Quills was an excellent movie.

And I love Joaquin Phoenix. He's a marvelous actor. Just breath-taking.

I know. I can't see anyone else playing Commodus and making him seem vulnerable. In almost (and I only say almost because there probably is someone else out there who might pull it off) anyone else's hands, he would have come off as a stock villain.

And slashiness is always a good bonus :)

And there were times when I felt sorry for Commodus because Joaquin made it so clear that he wanted to be the type of man his father would respect but just didn't know how.

Very good acting.

I know. He had those moments of "I just want my father's love and respect" that made him vulnerable.
