Smallville: Transference

So, I got the Smallville dvds and I'm just bopping around watching the episodes, totally not in order. And I watched Transference because the premise sounded neat and...
Dude, Tom Welling kicks almighty ass in this episode. Wow. I was blown away by his performance. Seriously, I would stack that up against any of MR's great episodes. Wow.
Also, I was so completely amused at Jensen's earnest Coach Teague and vastly amused that I barely noticed him the first time I saw him, when I watched the first four episodes of S4 back when they aired.
Jensen Ackles was not even a blip on my radar back then (though, mind you, still better off than Jared Padalecki, as I actively disliked his Dean on Girlmore Girls). And now I could not adore those boys more. That's what finding the right characters and the right actor to act against can do for people. Jared and Jensen totally feed off each other and make each other better. They have chemistry in metawatts.

Yeah. It was such a huge shift for me. I didn't care much about Coach Teague, but I adore Dean Winchester.

When he pulled out the cellphone and said, “yes mother it is done” (Kidder’s character’s death) i thought, “Oh, I missed something in the episodes I missed.” But when I saw that scene again, I realized, “Oh… no wonder everyone was pissy. It really was a lightswitch.” Oh well, Coach Teague was cute while he lasted.
But isn’t Supernatural adorable? The plots bore me but, I love watching them together.

The guys are definitely the reason to watch the show.

Date: 2006-10-08 01:56 am (UTC)He really was amazing! I think the first time that he made an impact on me, acting-wise, was back in the first season. Clark really was so much light in Leech, without his secret weighing him down, that it made me realize how much TW put into giving Clark that gravity in the previous episodes. And he's only gotten better!

Highly adorable. I hear that he randomly goes evil later on, which is kinda sad.

*giggle* Oh, I don't know. He doesn't so much 'go evil' as we find out more about him, and personally I enjoyed that plot. He gets slash! How bad can that be?

Is his 'lightswitch' also overstated? You know, the Smallville audience is really quick with that word. So much so that I'm starting to think that, to some people, any character growth at all = lightswitching.

Nah... it's not like that with Jason at all. It's backstory rather than character development, so the only lightswitch is the 'oh! you were a freak all along... shoulda guessed' type. ;-)

Date: 2006-11-19 08:51 pm (UTC)Jensen's definitely more appealing as Dean than as any of the other characters I've seen him play (none of which stuck out for me at the time!).
