*rewatches Leto returning to Ghanima*

Possibly I'm obsessed.

Just. She's there, in her wedding finery, holding her crysknife and looking so horribly blank. And then... his voice says her name. She looks startled, orders the servants out.

And when they're gone, he comes out and they're both just so happy and they rush at each other and kiss, maybe on the cheek, maybe not. Hard to tell.

She says that she knew he was alive. She reaches out to touch the sandtrout on his skin, while he watches. One moves, she breaks out into laughter and his face relaxes, he smiles.

He pulls away from her, looks her all over in her dress that's cut down to her waist J.Lo-style. Then he pulls her toward him and the music is breathtaking. They turn to look in a mirror, seeing how they look together.

He turns back to her and apologises. She kisses him on the mouth, he puts his hand on her face and they have another quick kiss.

End scene.

It's just. It's flat-out romantic.

Alia was extremely well-done. In her last scene, there's a brilliant echo to the first mini-series.

The actor who played her did an amazing job. Rewatching, I can see her faith in Paul. She believes in him.

And while her last scene is different from the book, it has so much emotion and resonance. I like the change.

Leto is much more... human in the movie. Which made rereading God Emperor all the more painful because I kept seeing this Leto going through all of that. I adored the apology to Ghani. I loved that he appeared to her first, instead of bringing her memory on in front of others. Much more sensitive.

Ghani was amazing. Personally, I think that when she speaks of him being the stronger, she refers to his ability to live through the loneliness. Leto is forced to become very lonely as God Emperor. Ghani, as shown by how she reaches out to people (Irulan, Farad'n at the end), seems to be more open to people than Leto. And I think that would have made her less capable of handling the loneliness required of the Golden Path.

I just remember the scene in the movie where she is getting ready for the wedding, just holding the bloody crysknife and then the change that comes over her when she see Leto.

Obligatory Leto/Ghani gushing: And she inspects his sandtrout skin and he looks so concerned about what she thinks! And it moves and she laughs and he looks so happy that she's not icked out! And he apologizes to her for letting her think that he was dead! And then they kiss!
