"You're going to love this episode," my roommate said to me when I got home from work.

Oh, how right she was.

How fucking amazing was Lois Lane in this episode? So much amazing that it cannot be described.

I loved the way that they used all the parts of her -- her military brat background, her passion for doing the right thing and helping people and her more recent love for journalism. I had to pause the show when she recognized Wes and go and squee to my roommate -- that's how happy I was. And she reached Wes! I loved her story about how he got his scar -- I love that, once again, Lois Lane doesn't let anyone talk her out of seeing what she knows she saw.

She was passionate, determined, caring, and incredibly tough and brave. So many kudos to Erica Durance, who is now officially my favorite Lois Lane.

The way Clark reacted around her was perfect. He was worried, determined, went to the wall (Chloe's look when he said, "I'll find someone who will," was interesting and deserves some more parsing at some point -- and I loved him going to Lana and saying, "This isn't about you and me. Lois is in trouble."). I loved him telling his mom that she should go to the US Senate. I loved the way he held Lois when he found her at the Fort.

Lana continues to be wonderful. I have loved that woman so much this year. She's embraced who she is, but despite her natural gifts for deception and manipulation, is still determined to use them for the better side.

I think that they're just about perfect with where Lex is. He makes sense -- everything Lex does makes sense, but none of it is morally justifiable. It's wrong, but I can clearly see why Lex thinks he has no other choice. That's exactly where his headspace should be, six years into everything.

So, in short -- yay!

All Hell Breaks Loose

Oh, my God, this episode. I'm not entirely sure that I have the words, but I'm going to try.

The sweet adorableness of the opening! And then the radio went all EMF-y and Dean looked up and Sam was gone and he went in and there were dead bodies and Sam was still gone and he had to find him and he was so desperate because his pain-in-the-ass little brother is missing and he loves him and it's his job to look out for him and then he gets a vision migraine and oh! Sam! With trying to keep everyone together and being unfazed by gay porn and lesbians and then Lily was killed by a demon and then Andy and he figured out that Ava had gone evil (Noooooo!) and Jake snapped her neck and Sam tried to convince him that you two needed to stick together, but he'd been convinced that only one could survive, but Sam won the fight! Sam won the fight, but he heard his brother calling his name and they saw each other and Sam was so relieved that his brother wasn't dead like Ava's fiancé but then Dean saw the knife and tried to warn Sam but it was too late! And Dean ran to his brother and knelt down and held him and I think that Sam's dead and that means that Dean is going to reverse his 'dead things should stay dead' policy because this is his little brother and he was touching Sam's face and back and hugging him and just willing him to not be dead and breaking my heart!

Oh, god, Sam. Oh, god, Dean.

In short, part of me really wishes that I were watching S2 the same that I watched S1 -- twenty-two episodes over the course of four days. Because I have to spend six more days waiting to see what'll happen next (and let's face it, the season finale last year didn't exactly bring comfort and joy -- more like heartwrenching agony and OMG!TRUCK!).

SO TRUE! *beams*

I agree! It was a real highlight of the episode--they're so made for one another.

Me too! It's been a joy to watch her this season.

Clark and Lois really are perfect for each other! They're really showing that quite well this season, with how they react to the world around them and to each other. They just... fit, in a way that Clark hasn't with any of his other relationships.

And, regarding Lana, I never would have guessed, back in S1, that I would come to love her so much. She's really come into her own and so very much owns herself now. Lana knows who she is and what matters to her and her boundaries aren't Clark's, but they're firm, now.

Great words on Lana--I completely agree and I'm delighted to see it. I'm happy for KK as an actor, too, that she has so much more to work with now and has risen to that challenge.

I love the subtle crafting of Clark and Lois. I know I grumble sometimes that Lois doesn't have enough to do and that the other characters ignore her, but I do admire the show for patiently showing over time that Lois is her own person--passionate, driven and fiercely loyal to the people she loves.

Yeah -- she's really gotten so good. I've been very impressed by KK's acting all this season.

She really is -- I love the way the show presents her (I feel weird that I have to say that, because it's so obvious to me that the show runners think Lois is amazing and yet... I occasionally visit TWoP, mostly for DW, and the SV boards there are so outside what I see on the show that I always leave them completely baffled) as so strong. She's a hell of a woman.

Word. That place is so warped where SV is concerned...
