So, for me, this was an episode entirely about how lovely and kind and thoughtful Clark was. He's beautiful when meteor-sick! He's concerned about his closest friend being infected, he's worried about how she might get hurt, he's pissed when he's found out that Lex has threatened her. And his behavior with Lex was spot-on -- yes, he'll always save Lex, but he'll also have that moment of hesitation, because Lex has destroyed so many things now.

And Clark's scenes with Lana were golden. Actually, Lana was all kinds of terrific. KK's really doing some spectacular work this season. Her pain and fear and emotion is very powerful.

The Chloe and her mom plotline was... well-done, but it's hard to ignore the fact that it doesn't fit any of the previous stories we got (and that blonde hair of the Moira in the previouslies isn't the same as the dark hair in the episode). Found the story of her telling Chloe to 'wash her hands' to be very powerful and a extremely good reason to turn herself into an asylum. Was emotionally effected when she went back into a catatonic state (another moment when Clark was so amazing -- I loved that he told Moira all about Chloe and that she told him what she was doing and he understand. So much Clark love!).

Hollywood Babylon was... very cute. It was nice seeing Dean fit into something that wasn't hunting. After the angst and pain of the earlier episodes, he's got his groove back (much like Sam got his joy back in last season's Hell House).

Though, am I the only person who thought Tara Benchley (the horror movie star) had really wonky eyes?

Silent-movie ghost was cool enough that I wished for an entire episode about her.

What the boys did at the end (or, rather, didn't do) felt emotionally on key to me -- we know from Faith that Sam has little pity for those who bind spirits to kill, and Dean thinks you're screwed the second you bind spirits or make deals at all, regardless of the reasons (Crossroad Blues). As far as they're concerned, Walter brought this on himself. It's not what, say, Clark Kent would do (oh, how he keeps on saving Lex), but Sam and Dean aren't Superman or Superman-to-be. They're human and this is one of the places where their compassion stops.

Me too, but not so much for what you said above, but because Sam told Walter that they *couldn't* do anything.

Sam: I wouldn't have done that if I were you.
Walter: Oh yeah. Why not?
Sam: 'Cause you just freed them. We can't stop them now. Walter, you brought them back, forced them to murder. They're not going to be very happy with you.

I think they would have stopped them if they could have, but they couldn't. And Walter. What a dipshit.

Oh, yes, there's definitely the practical aspect, too (though Dean could have shot the ghosts off the guy while they tried to figure out how to get rid of them -- though one of them had already been cremated, yes? And was only back because Walter the moron summoned them, so it's not like there would be an object they could burn, because the ghost didn't want to be there, didn't have something holding him there. Really, Walter screwed himself there.).

Overall, yeah, they simply couldn't do anything. But I don't think that they spent a whole lot of time mourning him.
