The fandoms that I don't know at all I just left blank and I wanted to clarify that for BSG, I have deep love for Kara/Lee, but am also quite in love with Kara/Anders and Helo/Sharon. Also on the incest tip, I think I read one too many V.C. Andrews novels growing up and I just find the whole thing strange. I don't find it sexy, but I can see where people are seeing the subtext so I wouldn't just flat out say that it's wrong either. So yeah, those are my thoughts, hope they are interesting to you:)
Jayne/Simon. I'm telling you, that's where it's at.
I also have to put in votes for Daniel/Sha're and McKay/Zelenka. Both Daniel and McKay are my OTCs, though, so pairing them with almost anyone is good fun.
Jayne/Simon. I'm telling you, that's where it's at.
I just prefer to pretend that Jayne never actually successfully has sex with anyone. I know that makes me pretty wacky in Firefly fandom, but I can live with that.
I also have to put in votes for Daniel/Sha're and McKay/Zelenka. Both Daniel and McKay are my OTCs, though, so pairing them with almost anyone is good fun.
I definitely buy Daniel's complete love and heartbreak over Sha're. I just didn't get to see them be adorable often enough for me to full-out ship them and wish that she hadn't died.
McKay/Zelenka is a cute thought, but I haven't found any fic for them that I've been able to really get into (I may not be looking the right places, most of the SGA people on my flist are McKay/Sheppard fans).
The Doctor and Rose. See, I have a power imbalance squick, and so for me the age gap between 900 years old and 19 is just too large, plus there's absolutely no parity in their levels of experience. I keep waiting for FF to change my mind on that one. So far, nope, hasn't happened.
Angel. I'll read most pairings in Angel casually, but I never found my OTP there. So I'm actually mostly a gen reader. It's not that I hate Angel pairings, and I'll happily read them in pursuit of a good story, just - no specific pairing is my bag, and I have no interest in pairing buy-in or PWP stories in Angel. (Oddly enough, I had much more interest in PWP in Angel before I saw some of the canon.)
Incest pairings. Ummmm. I was uncomfortable saying "incest is wrong." It is wrong in real life. In FF, whatever, it's fine. Not wrong. But incest squicks me severely (see also: power imbalances, squickiness of - the one incest story that didn't squick me is Speranza's McKay/Sheppard one, because there is no power imbalance there), so I don't read it.

This is exactly why Ten/Rose works so much better for me than Nine/Rose. Because it really feels like Ten completely thinks of Rose as his equal (see: "I believe in her."). Whereas Nine was more aware of the need to protect her, like she was weaker than he was.
Angel. I'll read most pairings in Angel casually, but I never found my OTP there. So I'm actually mostly a gen reader. I do get a great deal of 'team-love' watching Angel. The interplay of the entire group is often more sparky and love-worthy than any two people off by themselves.

I have that same guideline -- fiction is fiction and there are no sacred cows.

My more complicated BSG answer - I'm pairing-indifferent for BSG. I enjoy (mostly) watching the different relationships on the show, but I don't ship any of them.
I'm mostly pairing-indifferent (but for the three I mention in the poll). I've definitely enjoyed watching Kara/Anders, Sharon/Helo, etc. Sometimes, BSG does feel a bit like a soap opera in space.
Nine/Rose: Great chemistry as a working relationship/friendship, and yes I saw a bit of a spark, but was glad it didn't go any further than it did. The kiss was sweet, but I'm not so keen on the Doctor having any sort of complex and long-term romance for pretty much the same reasons Ten states in School Reunion.
Daniel/Vala: I have not seen the second half of season 10, but I'm willing to be spoiled just enough to leap to the conclusion that the wording of your poll indicates a D/V ending, which makes me happy.
SGA: I don't ship anyone on Atlantis, so I have no strong feelings on the subject. Shep/McKay is okay, but I'm definitely not going to say I love it. Shep/Weir is okay too. I think I'll hang out in the GEN camp with this show.
Smallville: Clark obviously belongs with Lois in the long run, but I pretty much only follow the show through your LJ.
Buffy/Xander: I think there are future possibilities with that one, in the hands of the right writer. I don't actively ship them. She was definitely too much of a mess to get involved with a close friend in the course of the show, and the Spuffy stuff was alternately hot and fascinating, if oh so wrong.
Wesley/Fred: Heartbreakingly good. I liked Fred with Gunn as well, before they (the characters, not Joss) messed things up. I was cool with the whole Angel/Cordy thing too.
Wash/Zoe, Mal/Inara, Simon/Kaylee: What can I say, I'm a sucker for canon. All three of these 'ships were different from each other, and interesting in their own right.
due South: I must admit to never having seen the show, but the right answer is the two guys, right? That's like, canon UST or something? *shrug* Fine with me, but I don't think I get a vote.
BSG: Gaius/Six is riveting onscreen, but it's not like I'm rooting for them to ride off into the sunset. What a mess. Everything that canon has been done, shipwise, is fine with me. I'm not actively shipping, I'm much more interested in seeing what happens.
Star Wars: Canon's fine with me. I watch the movies on a regular basis and collect models of the Falcon (yes, geek here), but have no plans for fandom activity.
Incest squicks me. Interesting tales of sibling bonding are touching, though.
You need to do that pairing meme that was going around recently.

The 'wither and die' stuff? Heh. That's pretty much what makes me go, "Oooh, just seize the moment, Doctor. You really think that the pain will be so much less if you don't admit to being in love?" But being a bit of a coward when it comes to my own personal life, I don't have much room to speak.
Daniel/Vala: I have not seen the second half of season 10, but I'm willing to be spoiled just enough to leap to the conclusion that the wording of your poll indicates a D/V ending, which makes me happy.
Heh, I did go all present-tense with them, didn't I?

I feel much less strongly about SGA than I do SG-1, but my roommate is such a huge fan of the show that I couldn't leave it out. Plus, I do have somewhat shippy feelings towards some of the McKay stuff.

Yes. She was going through so much trauma during the show, that any relationship she started was pretty much doomed to sink under it all.
Wesley/Fred: Heartbreakingly good. I liked Fred with Gunn as well, before they (the characters, not Joss) messed things up. I was cool with the whole Angel/Cordy thing too.
All of the AtS pairings work for me in retrospect, but Wesley/Fred is probably my favorite. Fantastic, believeable and tragic arc.
Thanks for the comments!
You need to do that pairing meme that was going around recently.
Which one was that? I was thinking of doing a write-up of why my 'ships work for me after giving the poll time to settle.
With incest pairings, I’ll admit that it makes a difference to me whether the two people know they’re related. If they have a pre-existing sibling relationship (I assume we’re talking about siblings, not parents and children), then yeah, it squicks me. (I won’t say “it’s wrong”—there are too many cultural variables. Is it incest if they’re first cousins, rather than siblings? And so forth.)
And agreed on the complicating factor of differing cultural variables. Humanity is such a fascinating subject of study (I understand why the Doctor likes us so much).
I said I had a more complicated answer for Buffy/Xander so I guess I have to give it now, huh? My thing with btvs in general is that I was madly in love with the show before I was really aware of "fandom" in general, so while I will read almost anything if the mood strikes me or if it's recced highly, I don't really have ANY favorite non-canon pairings (um, except Buffy/Faith but maybe one could argue that it's so close to canon... :P )
Anyway. While I was watching in real time (S1-3 and then later S5ish-7), I was firmly in the Joss is God camp and therefore whatever was onscreen was all I needed! I was pretty strictly B/A and W/X and then W/Oz and then W/X etc etc etc but I do love what Buffy and Xander had become to each other by the end and what they always were, and I loved the little hints of "maybe" we got every once in a while (here I'm thinking of the "my life's not complicated" moment in the funeral home in "Phases") and also, btw, "When She Was Bad" is definitely my most-watched episode, owing in large part to the sexydance.
So. Complicated answer! I need to be torn away from the computer this late at night.

Yes, please! *grins and reads on*

'Madly in love with the show' is a very familiar place for me. BtVS is probably still my favorite television ever.

I had varying opinions on all of the pairings but never regretted the journey that Joss took us on.

They kept returning to it and leaving the door just that tiniest crack open, never fully shutting the door the way they did with Willow and Xander.

No! Thank you so much. I really appreciate the elaboration.
Okay, I clicked "more complicated" a lot. Lessee...
Dr. Who: I am *such* a slasher. I think both Doctors and Rose are adorable together as they are onscreen! If they did a relationship well, I'd probably have liked it, but I think I preferred them gen--and I definitely didn't ship them, because I don't usually feel one way or another about non-canon het.
SG-1: I loved watching the Jack/Daniel onscreen moments, but I tend to see them as more homosocial than homosexual. As for Daniel himself...I honestly almost see him as asexual by default, although I can be convinced into a fair number of pairings (Jack and Vala included) by a good writer. And, um, I myself am writing a Very Special Sekrit Daniel Pairing Story that I may have mentioned to you before, and if not, well, it'll hopefully be up...um, soonish.
Incidentally, I never watched Smallville. But I read the Clark/Lex fanfiction!
BSG: My more complicated answer is that I simply do not watch the show. So, any and all, or none!
Incest pairings: I posted on that pretty recently, actually. It's here.
Okay, I clicked "more complicated" a lot. Lessee...
Life is always a touch more exciting when you click 'more complicated'.

Makes sense to me. Whether or not you shipped them, they made a stellar (and fun) team.

Daniel is fun with... just about anybody. Daniel's most definitely my Stargate One True Character. But he definitely tends to choose the search for knowledge over any specific person. In the choice between dusty books and hot sex, he'd likely choose the books.
Incidentally, I never watched Smallville. But I read the Clark/Lex fanfiction!
Hee! I read Clark/Lex before I saw the show, so I'm familiar with that.
BSG: My more complicated answer is that I simply do not watch the show. So, any and all, or none!
For Angel: Wesley/Faith. Because by the end they had both broken and put themselves back together again. And then Wesley broke even more, but in my universe he's alive and happy, so I get to think wish fulfilling thoughts.
Oh, Wesley. That ending to the show really broke my heart (I loved and adored it, to the tips of my toes and the fullness of my soul, but it totally killed me, too) and that was largely due to Wes.
Faith is not my happy place in the Buffyverse (though I'd mostly forgiven her by the end), but I understand why she's so many other people's.
Hi, I've been reading your journal for a while (loved what you were writing about Torchwood a while back - finally someone who had a similar opinion on Owen to me) but haven't ever commented. I just can't say no to polls ;)
Um, I don't read much fanfic and I don't think I've read any in the fandoms listed, so my annswers are based on what I feel in watching the series.
Re: Firefly, I'm also fond of Inara/Kaylee and Simon/Kaylee.
loved what you were writing about Torchwood a while back - finally someone who had a similar opinion on Owen to me
The reaction to Owen in fandom is something that I find a bit odd, to be honest. The hate is so wide-spread, but for me he's the most understandable and in-depth character in the series. He's done some shitty, shitty things, but he tends to always get karmic payback for them (and actually seems to learn something from the experience).
Re: Firefly, I'm also fond of Inara/Kaylee and Simon/Kaylee.
For me, Kaylee is too much of an adorable kid to really ship with anyone (despite how sexual she is in the actual series).
I answered with a lot of complicated answers for the comments!
Doctor/Rose: I liked Ten/Rose, but wasn't obsessive about them, and quite frankly the many references to Rose this season are tarnishing both my love for the show and my fondness for Rose/Ten in memory.
In Angel, I'm one of those weird people who loved both Connor and Lilah and ship both of them with just about anybody. ;-)
In BSG, I ship Kara/Lee (I can't help it, I swear! I know it's an embarrassing ship) but I also answered that Laura/Lee would be nifty. And Lee interacting with anyone is good with me!
I totally wished Luke and Leia weren't related as a kidlet. I don't ship anyone as an adult.
Oh, and in Firefly I don't really ship ANYone. It's an entirely non-shippy show for me. I'm not fannish about it really at all, but if anyone I would pick River/Simon, because I find implied incest hot (as answered in last question). :-)

Complicated is love!
Doctor/Rose: I liked Ten/Rose, but wasn't obsessive about them, and quite frankly the many references to Rose this season are tarnishing both my love for the show and my fondness for Rose/Ten in memory.
Aw. For me, I'm not sure that I could keep watching the new series if they didn't have those little references. I fell in love with Rose before I fell for the Doctor and I miss her so much (seriously, any of the sentences that I write in my reviews could have "and I miss Rose" added to them. "Shakespeare was fantastic .")! When I watch S3, there's this huge gaping hole and I'm comforted when the Doctor feels the loss, too.
In Angel, I'm one of those weird people who loved both Connor and Lilah and ship both of them with just about anybody. ;-)
I totally feel the Connor love. I enjoyed Lilah, but didn't love her.
In BSG, I ship Kara/Lee (I can't help it, I swear! I know it's an embarrassing ship) but I also answered that Laura/Lee would be nifty. And Lee interacting with anyone is good with me!
Hee. Word on the "anyone/Lee" interaction thing.

Firefly does have a strong and wonderful 'team=family' vibe.
Thanks so much for the comments! Sorry for chatting your ear off about Rose.
I have a not so secret love for pre-movies Han/Lando. And I'm a Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan girl, not an Anakin/Obi-Wan for the pure and simple reason that I think Obi-Wan has better taste than to try and get it on with Anakin (er, which rather shows my opinion of Anakin).
And I think Luke is one of the straightest men to have ever lived, but he did have a definite thing for his sister.
I have a not so secret love for pre-movies Han/Lando.
Hmm! I can totally buy that. It works for me.
And I'm a Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan girl, not an Anakin/Obi-Wan for the pure and simple reason that I think Obi-Wan has better taste than to try and get it on with Anakin (er, which rather shows my opinion of Anakin).
I suspect that I have a great deal more love for Anakin than you do. But I have a fondness for dumb kids (see also: Romeo and Juliet).
Also, Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan hits my parent-child squick (I have no sibling squick, but I have a parent-child one a mile wide), whereas Obi-Wan/Anakin hits my 'partners' button.
And I think Luke is one of the straightest men to have ever lived, but he did have a definite thing for his sister.
I think the Doctor and Rose are adorable and even write them (largely as if they are canon--you know that particular bent?) but the other day I got a specifically Rose/Doctor vid idea and went banging my head against the dash going why, why, why. It's not as if I haven't had vid ideas about Rose AND the Doctor before, but it was about some other aspect of their relationship other than the THEY LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH and the vid idea on that topic... freaked me out. That would be like a slash vid! But with het!
In my SG1 heyday I was kind of a ho. Mostly a J/D fan, but I slept around a lot. I think I went through all the slash permutations at some point, and even kind of liked Statistical Outliers (aka Sam/Daniel). You know, when Sam wasn't getting it on with Janet.
SGA: McKay/Carter hurts my brain. Hm. What else to say about SGA. I really like Teyla to the point where I think all the boys should be her harem? Hey, I bet she got that kind of respect at home!
I cannot really remember if there were particular happy-place pairings for me in Buffy/Angel (besides the occasional oddball Spike/Dawn). I remember liking characters a lot and not giving much of a hoot about the shipwars.
Star Wars, I think, predated my interest in pairings.

Hee! I actually do consider Doctor/Rose pretty much canon post-The Satan's Pit (and the Doctor's comments in S3 are really not changing my mind!).
I would love to see that vid (if you ever make it). You do great work.

There's no shame in being a ho! I'm willing to give almost any pairing that has Daniel in it half a try.
SGA: McKay/Carter hurts my brain. Hm.
It does that for many people. For me, I was totally won over by the pianist speech. Because I'm such a sap for thwarted desire. He wanted to play the piano! But was told he had no soul! No wonder he's kinda a dick! Mind you, he has/had to do much growing up to even begin to deserve Sam, but that episode is what made me think he might get there.
What else to say about SGA. I really like Teyla to the point where I think all the boys should be her harem? Hey, I bet she got that kind of respect at home!
Teyla is so fab and terrific that I can't really ship her with any of the ethically-challenged SGA folk.
I cannot really remember if there were particular happy-place pairings for me in Buffy/Angel (besides the occasional oddball Spike/Dawn). I remember liking characters a lot and not giving much of a hoot about the shipwars.
The characters are so wonderful in the Buffyverse. Joss does good work.
Complicated answer re Doctor (either incarnation)/Rose: I enjoyed them together, and as opposed to the majority actually think the relationship was more - balanced, in lack of a better term - when he was Ten because as Nine he was blatantly manipulative to keep her with him (Aliens in London, World War III) and too exclusively focused on her due to recent Time War trauma, whereas by the time he was Ten they were both sure of each other, and far more relaxed with each other.
However, and this being said: I don't miss Rose. She had a good run for a companion, but I don't think there was anything new they could have done with the character, and it has to be the Companion, since there are limits of how much you can do with the Doctor, so even if Billie hadn't decided to leave, I think it would have been a good idea to let her go. I also thought the Rose references in "Runaway Bride" and "Smith and Jones" were well done, in character and keeping up emotional reality - but in "The Shakespeare Code", at least the first felt artificially inserted and grated.

I agree completely with that. Ten/Rose was much healthier than Nine/Rose -- largely, I think, because so much of their uncertainty and fear regarding each other was gone after what Rose was willing to do in TPotW.

Considering where they went, they probably couldn't have gone further. But if Billie had stayed, they could have taken a bit longer to get there! But I really did love Rose so much (and miss her so much now) that I wouldn't mind if she'd just become as much a part of the show as the Doctor and the TARDIS.
I also thought the Rose references in "Runaway Bride" and "Smith and Jones" were well done, in character and keeping up emotional reality - but in "The Shakespeare Code", at least the first felt artificially inserted and grated.
Whereas I did love the references in TSC as much as the earlier ones. I'd be fine if the Doctor kept mentioning her all season, actually. But I really do miss her fiercely.
I of course...being a Xander and full on BX shipper have loved their relationship from start to finish and fully believe that they could get together. May actually happen in the comics by the looks of it. I see it happen in comics I will go totally fan boy and quite possibly squeal in a manly way.
As for Smallville...I find it myself most difficult to choose a lady love for myself much less Clark. Each one is special in thier own way.
Chloe - She's kind of like Xander in her own right. Sidekick, get the moments but in the end, no luck. She's the underdog you want to root for to get with Clark. At least the Chloe now. Pining Chloe got kinda annyoing. But I still loved her cause she's Chloe...and that smile just makes me smile.
Lois - Well...this should be easy. She's Lois. And HOT! This appeases my male mind. Especially when she's kicking ass in tight leather or other undercover outfits suited to make me drool.
And Lana - Not a big love of her right now. She's in some ways gone dark side but has part of that innocence that I've loved about her since the beginning. But if I choose one...Lois wins out cause...well. She's Lois.

If they happen in the comics, it'll totally be my canon Season Eight!
All of the women on SV are strong characters. But, yes, Lois is Lois. Brave and snarky and wonderful.
I'm so glad you did checkmarks instead of radio buttons. Mwa! Because I'm insane and have multiple conflicting answers.
My complicated answer for Daniel. Daniel is sex on a stick and therefore I ship him with virtually everyone -- Jack, Vala and Cameron most specifically. He's just hot with everyone. I even ship him with teh character who replaced him for a season or two LOL Because they were hot together! Because Daniel is hot! The only person I don't ship Daniel with was his actual canonical wife. Goddamn, I'm contrary!!!
Also, same goes for Angel. I ship him with EVERYONE. Buffy, Spike, Wesley, Lindsey, Doyle. Pretty much everyone.
The Clark/Lex ship has sailed. I would ship Lois/Clark if we ever got a chance to really see them spark. I was hoping that with Lois/Clark being, y'know, INEVITABLE, that the writers would eventually get off the Lana crackpot and start shipping Lois/Clark themselves something fierce, but I fear the show is doomed to cancellation before this EVER happens. Oh god I HATE THEM!!!
I would ship McKay/Sheppard if I didn't hate Rodney fangirls so much. *burns* Actually, I think Sheppard/Teyla would be kinda hot. Also, Sheppard/all alien women actually works for me quite a bit. In fact, if they had more intereaction, I'm pretty sure Sheppard/Daniel would work hella good for me too.
BSG -- I'm all about Lee/Laura. Or at least I was early seasons. I hate Lee/Kara. HATES! SEEETHES!!! And that is why I wish all the ships would cease and desist -- because I think that is what it would take to kill that ship! Oh, I ship Kara/Leoben. Mwa!!!!
I actually only love Victoria. I know I should hate her, but I can't. They were just so hot together and Fraser's manpain was a thing of beauty.
On a final note: INCEST IS AWESOME!! AS LONG AS ITS ONLY ON TV! YAY!
I'm so glad you did checkmarks instead of radio buttons. Mwa! Because I'm insane and have multiple conflicting answers.
Thank you! That is precisely why I went with those.
Daniel is so hot that the Ascended couldn't handle him! Yes, yes, yes, on the Daniel love/lust.
Also, same goes for Angel. I ship him with EVERYONE. Buffy, Spike, Wesley, Lindsey, Doyle. Pretty much everyone.
If I'd seen him as hot sooner, I might agree (as it is, I ship him with several people)! It took me ages to find him hot (S2 of AtS, when he threw Darla through the door and had sex with her... it's kinda a guilty pleasure, what with the door-throwing and all) and even longer to like him as a character (when he killed Connor to save him, end of S4). Mind you, I now find him hot in retrospect (as evidenced by my icon)
Clark/Lex has not only sailed, it was sunk at sea by pirate ships. But it lives on in fic! The writers can be a bit frustrating on that show, I agree! But I hope that (maybe) we'll get more Lois/Clark in S7!
Some of the Rodney fangirls are kinda scary! Sheppard is pretty hot. I respect Teyla too much to ship her with Sheppard, though. She's far more ethical than he is!
Mwa!!!!
Kara/Leoben! How could I forget about them? They were so hot and fucked up! I was so thrilled when Lee and Laura had actual interaction in the trial episodes. They had such a spark in S1/early S2.
I actually only love Victoria. I know I should hate her, but I can't. They were just so hot together and Fraser's manpain was a thing of beauty.
Victoria really was so fucking hot with Fraser. Fingers in mouths! And Fraser does hurt so well!
On a final note: INCEST IS AWESOME!! AS LONG AS ITS ONLY ON TV! YAY!
Hee! Yay!
Thanks for the comments! And for using that icon! Daniel is so pretty.
Doctor Who: My feelings about Ten/Rose seem to vary depending on which episode I'm watching (for instance, I loved them together in Fear Her, but hated them in the Cybermen 2 parter). Honestly, a lot of my issues have to do with the writing of season 2 and how I think they tried to tell two conflicting stories simultaneously. And there's the whole thing where I think they loved each other, but not that they were "soulmates." Which is really a meta issue, and beside the point. I did like the Rose references in Runaway Bride and Smith and Jones, but not so much in Shakespeare Code. Though I blame that more on the fact that it was the first post-Rose episode not written by RTD than anything else.
SG-1/SGA: I ship way too many pairings to list them all. I do love any pairing with Rodney in it though.
BtVS/AtS: another universe where I'm a multi-shipper. Joss just writes his characters so well I can't help but be intrigued by all the possibilities!
BSG: Kara/Anders is my OTP. I really like Helo/Athena too. And I'm half-jokingly shipping Anders/Lee now.

If I had to pick a specific Doctor/Rose OTP, it would be Ten/Rose over Nine/Rose. Because of the unwavering adorability factor. The only Ten/Rose moment that doesn't work for me is the laughter at the very beginning of The Impossible Planet. I've seen better laughs from both of them!
Honestly, a lot of my issues have to do with the writing of season 2 and how I think they tried to tell two conflicting stories simultaneously.
Incidentally, which two stories? I do think that the Doctor and Rose had parallel but non-identical stories but that they ended up in the same place.
And there's the whole thing where I think they loved each other, but not that they were "soulmates."
*shudders at 'soulmate'*
Oh, I hate that word. So misused and overused and... yeah.
I think that people have 'matches' and that each person has more than one well-fitting match but that there is still one person who does fit a bit better than anyone else. And I think that Rose and the Doctor were that for each other.
I did like the Rose references in Runaway Bride and Smith and Jones, but not so much in Shakespeare Code. Though I blame that more on the fact that it was the first post-Rose episode not written by RTD than anything else.
*nods* RTD is smoother at it than the other guy, I think. David sold the moments to me, though, sold the wistfulness and the rage.
SG-1/SGA: I ship way too many pairings to list them all. I do love any pairing with Rodney in it though.
Rodney is love. He's my favorite SGA character, definitely.
BtVS/AtS: another universe where I'm a multi-shipper. Joss just writes his characters so well I can't help but be intrigued by all the possibilities!
Such a splendid character creator! I definitely agree with that.
BSG: Kara/Anders is my OTP. I really like Helo/Athena too. And I'm half-jokingly shipping Anders/Lee now.
Kara/Anders and Helo/Athena are both very sweet. I don't feel passionate enough about them to ship them, but I liked them whenever they popped up on-screen.
If you are going to ship Anders/Lee, now would seem to be the time! Perhaps BSG will go the threesome route (which would be the only way I could stand Kara/Lee).
I have only seen about 2 eps. of SPN, but the fanmixes are so hot, I think I could get into Sam/Dean. You missed out Nine/Jack! And Miles O'Brien and the Doc whose name I've temprarily mislaid. Bashir!
Indeed! When I came back to read the responses to the poll, I thought of several pairings that I'd left out the first time! I left to go see if Bones was new (sadly, no -- it wasn't even on), so I hit 'post' before triple-checking it all.
Whoa! Well uh I've done mine but unfortunately it won't be as detailed as others. Since a lot of entertainment sources on the list I've not seen or taken an interest in. Of the shows I'm familiar with, most bar one are pretty much just a casual distraction or time passer for me these days, though some were much more in the past, as I venture into a new era in my life, maximiseing my internet interests to mainly just a haven to return home to and relax whilst reading fan-fic.
Just like to comment that pretty much for all the pairings I clicked, it's generally more complex than wanting them to bed each other. With Wesley/Angel, for example, I loved their relationship, but I loved it because of its sheer complexity-- flatenning it out to just pure romance wasn't interesting to me.
And while I'm usually okay with incest in my fiction, Wincest really squicks me. I don't know why. Everyone else seems to enjoy it. D:

Spectacular. I generally feel the same way. If they wouldn't have anything to say outside the bedroom, I'm not likely to ship them.
With Wesley/Angel, for example, I loved their relationship, but I loved it because of its sheer complexity-- flatenning it out to just pure romance wasn't interesting to me.
Betrayal and trust and friendship and father issues! Wesley/Angel is a marvelously complex relationship. It's definitely no good for me when people take that complexity out of it.
And while I'm usually okay with incest in my fiction, Wincest really squicks me. I don't know why. Everyone else seems to enjoy it. D:
Hee! Some people are squicked by Dean serving as something of a parent figure for Sam (since Daddy Winchester kinda... sucked at it). It doesn't hit my parent-child squick, but I can see it hitting other people's.
So, see the icon and you already know my OTP (One True Passion). The only guy that could ever give Buffy what she really wanted - a normal guy who understands what she does. And the only girl good enough for Xander, had she been kept away from all the stupid choices she made because she didn't have his love! I just have to say that I passionately hated Xander/Anya, not because it got in the way of B/X, but because it made him look stupid, small and mean. And as much as I loved the way Nick and Emma played off each other, I hated those two characters together. Gah!
Fangirl flailing out of the way, I really never got a OTP on Angel going. I really didn't expect to like the character of Angel or a show named after him when it started, and it took me by surprise when I did. I kinda liked Wesley with everyone (even the Dirty!Sick!Wrong! thing with Lilah), but the closest I came to OTP on that show was Angel/Fred. Yeah, I do seem to pick the long odds, don't I?
On BSG, the only other show on the list I'm passionate about, I like Admiral Adama/Laura and lurrr-ve Helo/Sharon. Lee just usually pisses me off (although Jamie Bamber is so very pretty), and although I like the pairing, it feels wrong to cheer for Gaius and Six.
As far as any of the other shows, I don't really watch most of 'em, although Hubby likes the Ninth Doctor and Rose, so I voted for that.

And the only girl good enough for Xander, had she been kept away from all the stupid choices she made because she didn't have his love!
They're my 'forever' pairing, too. It's been over nine years since I saw my first episode of Buffy and I've been shipping them that entire time.
I just have to say that I passionately hated Xander/Anya, not because it got in the way of B/X, but because it made him look stupid, small and mean. And as much as I loved the way Nick and Emma played off each other, I hated those two characters together. Gah!
I think that there were definitely times when the Xander/Anya relationship made Xander look bad. There were also times (for me) when he shined in it. The real problem with it was that Xander is attracted to strong women and Anya mostly only had the appearance of being a strong woman (she got there towards the end of S7, though, I think). Things that Xander could do that wouldn't look bad with Cordy or Buffy (because they respond in kind) looked bad with Anya, because for all her outer strength, she was vulnerable when it came to men.
Fangirl flailing out of the way, I really never got a OTP on Angel going. Hmm. There are definitely moments when Angel/Fred could have worked for me. The kiss during the Jasmine arc was pretty hot, actually.

Hee. Gaius and Six are majorly fucked in the head (literally!). They feel about equally so to me, which is probably why I ship them. They're the only ones that could handle the other person's damage.
Good poll! It was fun.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for commenting.
OK...So, maybe before I get home. Seems my teacher is just rambleing.
Doctor/Rose: While I do ship Doctor/Rose I am conflicted by the fact. I find myself facsinated by it, and yet at the same time appaled. I am a long time Whovian and so the thought of The Doctor havinbg a romatinc relationship with his compainion is a bit odd, mostly I think for the reasons stated in School reunion. I don't know.
Daniel/Vala: I Definatly see Daniel Vala potential. I have yet to see the second half of the season, so I don't know yet what will happen, but I am looking foward to more shippy moments. As for Daniel/Jack, well, I do see where people are getting it from, and I have read a few fics. But, I really don't ship them. But I do see it, though I think it is more freindship.
Smallvile: I only watched it till seasoin two, due to the change in air night and schedule confliction thereof. So at the time I really wanted to see Clark and Lana to have a more meaningful relationship, though not one that would later on prevent him from haveing a deap realationship with Lois when he went to Metropolis. Because we all know that he is meant to be with Lois. That's just the way it is.
Buffy/Xander: I think that there is a possability of a greater relationship there, but...To me, I don't know. They seem to be too close as friends to take it further, although Xander really seems like he woukd like to. I personally am a Spuffy shipper.
Angel: I have not seen enough of too really say.
Firefly: in addition to Mal/Inara I also ship Simon/Kaylee
Due Douth: Never seen it
BSG: I have only seen the old one, and that quite some time ago, so I can't say one way or another.
Star Wars: I am fine with the cannon pairings, but I wouldn't say I ship, as I don't read fic, and am not active in the fandom

Date: 2007-04-12 03:14 am (UTC)The Doctor and Rose.

Incest pairings. Ummmm. I was uncomfortable saying "incest is wrong." It is wrong in real life. In FF, whatever, it's fine. Not wrong.
I have that same guideline -- fiction is fiction and there are no sacred cows.
But incest squicks me severely (see also: power imbalances, squickiness of - the one incest story that didn't squick me is Speranza's McKay/Sheppard one, because there is no power imbalance there), so I don't read it.
Very sensible choice. *grins*

Date: 2007-04-12 06:49 am (UTC)The 'wither and die' stuff?
SGA: I don't ship anyone on Atlantis, so I have no strong feelings on the subject. Shep/McKay is okay, but I'm definitely not going to say I love it. Shep/Weir is okay too. I think I'll hang out in the GEN camp with this show.
I feel much less strongly about SGA than I do SG-1, but my roommate is such a huge fan of the show that I couldn't leave it out. Plus, I do have somewhat shippy feelings towards some of the McKay stuff.
Buffy/Xander: I think there are future possibilities with that one, in the hands of the right writer. I don't actively ship them. She was definitely too much of a mess to get involved with a close friend in the course of the show, and the Spuffy stuff was alternately hot and fascinating, if oh so wrong.

Which one was that? I was thinking of doing a write-up of why my 'ships work for me after giving the poll time to settle.

Date: 2007-04-12 03:53 am (UTC)Anyway.

Date: 2007-04-12 06:57 am (UTC)Yes, please! *grins and reads on*
My thing with btvs in general is that I was madly in love with the show before I was really aware of "fandom" in general, so while I will read almost anything if the mood strikes me or if it's recced highly, I don't really have ANY favorite non-canon pairings (um, except Buffy/Faith but maybe one could argue that it's so close to canon... :P )
'Madly in love with the show' is a very familiar place for me. BtVS is probably still my favorite television ever.
Anyway. While I was watching in real time (S1-3 and then later S5ish-7), I was firmly in the Joss is God camp and therefore whatever was onscreen was all I needed! I was pretty strictly B/A and W/X and then W/Oz and then W/X etc etc etc
I had varying opinions on all of the pairings but never regretted the journey that Joss took us on.

They kept returning to it and leaving the door just that tiniest crack open, never fully shutting the door the way they did with Willow and Xander.

No! Thank you so much. I really appreciate the elaboration.

Date: 2007-04-12 03:58 am (UTC)Dr.
It's here.
Yay pairings!

Faith is not my happy place in the Buffyverse (though I'd mostly forgiven her by the end), but I understand why she's so many other people's.

Date: 2007-04-12 04:08 am (UTC)Doctor/Rose: I liked Ten/Rose, but wasn't obsessive about them, and quite frankly the many references to Rose this season are tarnishing both my love for the show and my fondness for Rose/Ten in memory.

Oh, and in Firefly I don't really ship ANYone. It's an entirely non-shippy show for me. I'm not fannish about it really at all, but if anyone I would pick River/Simon, because I find implied incest hot (as answered in last question). :-)
Firefly does have a strong and wonderful 'team=family' vibe.
Thanks so much for the comments! Sorry for chatting your ear off about Rose.

Date: 2007-04-12 07:20 am (UTC)Hmm!
I'm with you on that one.

Date: 2007-04-12 05:03 am (UTC)In my SG1 heyday I was kind of a ho.

Date: 2007-04-12 07:27 am (UTC)Hee!

The characters are so wonderful in the Buffyverse. Joss does good work.

Date: 2007-04-12 05:17 am (UTC)However, and this being said: I don't miss Rose.

Date: 2007-04-12 07:33 am (UTC)I agree completely with that. Ten/Rose was much healthier than Nine/Rose -- largely, I think, because so much of their uncertainty and fear regarding each other was gone after what Rose was willing to do in TPotW.
However, and this being said: I don't miss Rose. Considering where they went, they probably couldn't have gone further. But if Billie had stayed, they could have taken a bit longer to get there! But I really did love Rose so much (and miss her so much now) that I wouldn't mind if she'd just become as much a part of the show as the Doctor and the TARDIS.

Whereas I did love the references in TSC as much as the earlier ones. I'd be fine if the Doctor kept mentioning her all season, actually. But I really do miss her fiercely.

Date: 2007-04-12 05:28 am (UTC)I of course...being a Xander and full on BX shipper have loved their relationship from start to finish and fully believe that they could get together.
She's Lois.

All of the women on SV are strong characters. But, yes, Lois is Lois. Brave and snarky and wonderful.

Date: 2007-04-12 06:04 am (UTC)My complicated answer for Daniel.
YAY!

Date: 2007-04-12 07:47 am (UTC)Thank you! That is precisely why I went with those.
Clark/Lex has not only sailed, it was sunk at sea by pirate ships. But it lives on in fic! The writers can be a bit frustrating on that show, I agree! But I hope that (maybe) we'll get more Lois/Clark in S7!
Some of the Rodney fangirls are kinda scary! Sheppard is pretty hot. I respect Teyla too much to ship her with Sheppard, though. She's far more ethical than he is!

Date: 2007-04-12 06:08 am (UTC)SG-1/SGA: I ship way too many pairings to list them all.
(no subject)
Date: 2007-04-12 07:57 am (UTC)If I had to pick a specific Doctor/Rose OTP, it would be Ten/Rose over Nine/Rose.
Thanks for the comments!

Date: 2007-04-12 04:19 pm (UTC)Spectacular.

Date: 2007-04-12 01:29 pm (UTC)Fangirl flailing out of the way, I really never got a OTP on Angel going.
Good poll! It was fun.

Date: 2007-04-12 04:24 pm (UTC)They're my 'forever' pairing, too.
Hmm. There are definitely moments when Angel/Fred could have worked for me. The kiss during the Jasmine arc was pretty hot, actually.
Hee. Gaius and Six are majorly fucked in the head (literally!). They feel about equally so to me, which is probably why I ship them. They're the only ones that could handle the other person's damage.
Good poll! It was fun.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for commenting.

Date: 2007-04-12 02:11 pm (UTC)Doctor/Rose: While I do ship Doctor/Rose I am conflicted by the fact.
I have yet to see the
second half of the season, so I don't know yet what will happen, but I am looking foward to more shippy moments.
Incest: ...?
