The first time I had to get a Pap I didn't know ahead of time. Afterwords I went out into the waiting room and said to my husband, "You would not believe what they just did to me."
Not a fun experience. One dr I went to had posters of teddy bears on the ceiling to distract the patient.
It gets easier. I dunno. I knew what was going to happen and was sexually active at the time of my first Pap, so I just didn't think it was that big a deal. The RN Practioner was a woman, too, so that made it easier, too.
