How am I supposed to take the Buffy recaps even partially seriously when they mis-transcribe dialogue and based on their mistake, say that something sucks?

Oh, I'm not?

Good, then.

It's amusing me, in part because my own view of the season is so different.

Hi.

Realize you don't actually know me and such, but I've added you to my friends list as you are consistently interesting -- as you may have noticed ;) -- and, you know, interesting people are good and stuff. Yes.

Anyway, um, I've been fairly upset with the sheer volume of the snarkiness to be found in the recaps this season myself. Haven't gotten to read the most recent one all that carefully -- just barely skimmed the first two pages or something -- so I was wondering what it was they transcribed wrong?

Yeah, I'll stop spamming up your journal now. heh. ;)

Oh, no, I really enjoy reading comments.

But yeah, Buffy says, "She's got an addictive personality." and they wrote that she said, "She's got a different personality."

Which are two way different things. And I think that Willow's definitely got the same personality that she always has.

But then Sep used that line as a jumping off point for a rant that lasted the entire recap. And all of those things that she quoted, the ones that were accurate, were all ambigious.

I'm apparently just very slow. I remember seeing that in the recap and wondering how I'd missed her saying that on the show. Um.. heh. That would explain that. ;)

I must admit that it bugged me and then made me look at all the other things that she clamed in the recap to see if they were supported.

And I've remember them making mistakes like that in the past, where the right thing has been mentioned and discussed in the forums.(I have no clue if that happened here, since I left and all.)

What line did they get wrong?

They said that Buffy said that Willow had 'a different' personality, when she really said that Will has 'an addictive' personality.

They drive me crazy with their lack of differenciating good episodes and bad. Like, there WERE pretty mediocre episodes this season. But there were also excellent ones. And when they trash them all equally, it's evident that they're not looking at the show critically and in a fair, straightforward manner.

The finale was fucking GOOD. It made my father finally fall in love with the show - a 47 year old man, not exactly the target demographic.

Dude? That is so cool.

I actually had a conversation with my therapist about the finale, which he loved. He's near 30-ish, I think.

And yeah, I don't see any objectiveness this year at all.

Well, for what it's worth, they did like OMwF and Tabula Rasa.

I wasn't going to read the recaps, as they've been tending to make me want to throw things, but I decided to read this one.

My god, does ANYTHING ever make them happy?

Well, Giles did. For a little bit.

I wonder if Giles is Sep's Spike?

Spike used to be Sep's Spike. In one of the early season five recaps, she asked who James Marsters would have to sleep with to get credited above MT, and then said, "Ooh, please let it be me!"

There was also one late in season four that said "Spike and Giles, or 'the only reasons to watch this show.'" I don't remember which one wrote that, though.

I quit the 'caps at Dead Things. Cuz I loved that ep, and I knew they wouldn't, and I didn't want them to bum me out. I quit the ep threads about that time, too.

Heh. Good point.

I'm actually interested in Spike again for the first time since he fell for Buffy.

And yeah, the reaction to DT was... highly toxic.

The only times I specifically did not like Spike was in Shadow and I Was Made to Love You.

We come from different worlds, babe.
