Love at First Sight:
He sees, he falls. He is so doomed.

What happens:
Xander is taking his one and only ride on a skateboard (on the show)when he spots Buffy going up the school steps. He stares at her, smashing into the railing. The music changes the instant that he catches sight of her, moving to a high but driven pulse.

What it means:
He's in lust. Plus, he probably gave up on skateboarding then and there, knowing that he was doomed to keep crashing as long as she was around.

Babble Boy:
Ouch. And he shows his huge crush by way of Freudian slips and babbling.

What happens:
After her meeting with Principal Flutie, Buffy accidentally runs into a pair of students, dropping her bag. Xander hears a voice, turns and sees her and rushes over to help her. As he scoops up her stuff, he asks the immortal question, "Can I have you?" He quickly corrects himself to "Can I help you?" but not before I whimper, "Yes, please." Buffy, on the other hand, looks beyond stunned. Dude, you're hot. You know this. Anyway, the conversation ends with Buffy looking confused and walking off and Xander being pissed at himself for being an utter dork.

What it means:
Xander's feelings are fairly obvious. He's crushing and he made a fool of himself in front of said crush. Buffy's are possibly more interesting. She looks genuinely surprised at Xander's flirting. And definitely more confused at the end than put off in any way. So, yes. Interesting.

With Willow and Jesse:
Xander and Jesse join Willow and Buffy at lunch, and Xander manages to sound like a dork again. An adorable dork, but a dork nonetheless.

What happens:
Xander and Jesse interrupt Buffy and Willow as they talk about schoolwork and the new librarian. Xander makes an adorable, but odd speech about him and Buffy and openly acknowledges that he sounds a bit like an idiot. Xander returns Buffy's stake and she once again is really lame at making up convincing excuses. Since she is adorable, Xander cares not at all and immediately starts chatting her up. In an interrogation-type way. Buffy looks a bit overwhelmed. Despite this, she sounds totally honest when she tells Cordelia that she's not being bothered by them. She also looks right at Xander when she says, "I'll see you guys later."

What it means:
Buffy is overwhelmed by Xander's questions (but who wouldn't be?), but she isn't put off. She's sincere when she says that the guys aren't bugging her. In fact, it's probably only because she has such a big secret that she's bugged at all. And she certainly holds his gaze for a while. In fact, Xander's the one who looks away first. Xander's arm. Is behind Buffy. Gah.
*takes a moment to breathe*
That's what he was doing when he moved. Mmm. And! She didn't move away!

I am such a B/Xer. *sigh*

Keep making sense like this, and you may well convert those of us who choose pairings based on who looks good (or who is the most fucked up) rather than who has the most canon evidence.

Hee. Will do my best.

Seriously though, I was watching Second Season with Krissy (ontheroof) and every time that B&X were together, I found something to say. But Season Two is one of the most B/X-y, really.
