Hmm. Interesting. I quite liked the Jack&John and Emma&Gwen plots and am undecided on the Owen/Diane plot. Love What Sprung Up Out of Nowhere (and disappears as quickly) is a pet peeve of mine, and I found Diane various amounts of likable throughout the episode. Burn (Owen) was pretty good, except for the bedroom scene where both of the actors seemed intensely aware of the sheets (and keeping them up high enough) in a way that I've never seen in that kind of scene before. And the affection that Diane and Owen grew to have was shown in a fairly natural way, though it jumped really quickly to 'love'. A week is not long enough to get to know anyone.

Gwen was absolutely adorable in her plotline with Emma -- taking the girl in and learning how to let her loose again. Lovely. And Rhys' outburst was a long time coming, I think. She does lie to him so easily and has done so from the first episode.

Gwen and Rhys are actually fairly interesting that way. Because she talks about how Torchwood and real life are two separate worlds, but she was lying to Rhys before she even knew what Torchwood was. She lies to Rhys when she has absolutely no reason to -- lying to Rhys seems to be quite the established habit for her. I wonder why that is.

Jack's plotline was heartbreaking. Very much so. I loved every bit of Jack that we got this week, though I found John the least likable of all of the time travelers (I liked Emma best).

So, two first-rate plotlines, and one that I'd probably give a B. Overall, very good episode.

I admit - when Jack was holding his hand in that garage, I sniffled

It was a very touching moment. I wanted to give Jack a big hug and tell him that Rose didn't mean for his resurrection to be so traumatic.

And Tosh is going the way of Teal'c. The should be one of the major charcters, but the writers keep forgetting about her.

Yes, they don't do much with Tosh (or Ianto). The main focus is on Gwen, Jack, and Owen (in other episodes nearly as much as this one).

Yeah, but Tosh is part of SG-1. Ianto is cool, but he just works in the control room, so I don't mind the lack of focus on him.

If only she weren't such a quiet character! It all feeds in on itself -- they made her a less outspoken character, so they write less about her, and the less they write, the less they have to say about her.

Since lying to him was such a habit that she didn't even think twice about it in the premier before she even knew about Torchwood, I wonder if she was having affaires before - or even still, in addition to Owen....

Hmm. I'm not sure if I think she was having other affairs, but I think that she liked not having the parts of her lives intersect, which is an attitude that more readily lends itself to having affairs.

I saw the episode on the net but there is one thing I didn't understand.

Could you help me, please? I thought Jack saved his life. John committed a suicide at the end?

Yeah, Jack didn't save his life, just stayed with him while he died, being immortal and immune to CO himself.

Thank you so much! You are very helpful!

The scene was good. Jack's face as he held the man's hand was so moving.

It was a very touching scene. I felt so bad for Jack.

I agree with most of your thoughts. I just watched this episode last night. I have to say the scene between Jack and John in the garage... it was heartbreaking. I also liked some of the Gwen/Emma stuff though I'm with you on Owen and Diane, not quite sure where I stand with all of them.

I think what messed it up for me was Owen begging her to stay when she was ready to leave or something... it seemed to overdone. I dunno! But overall, I really loved this episode. :)

The Owen/Diane scenes were a bit... much. It was the progression to love in a week that makes me go, "Uh, huh." And if she did love him, it wasn't enough to want him to travel with her and keep her company. It was more 'hey, great sex and fun times' than anything else.
