Spike was lying to Buffy. He knows that something is talking to him. He doesn't tell Buffy, even though she told him that they were being messed with too.

He knows that the chip works, because he got a massive headache from smacking Xander (which he deserved). He doesn't tell her this, even though it would way support Xander's sleeper theory.

Why was Spike still lying to Buffy? Was he trying to appear dangerous enough for her to kill him?

I think he was just really out of it and confused. Withdrawl over human blood, plus kind of crazy still. And he blacks out a lot, so he quite possibly doesn't remember the "conversations". Or he thinks he's just nuts, and there isn't actually something there.

I would guess that he assumed the chip MUST not work (at least part of the time) because, you know, he killed people. He knows that, obviously, it has worked recently. But then, it's hard to think "My chip works" when you've just committed multiple murder. ahahaha.

um. this is just my random speculation, though. am pretty much as clueless as you. :)

True. Either theory is valid, specially since Spike is now upside down and all the way to Painful Bleeding Land.

And in no condition to answer questions.
