Queer as Folk US

After watching the S3 promo that
glitterkittyjen linked to I figured out why Justin bugs me: he's too washed out. Blonde everywhere, no contrast. And his haircut makes him look so young, which is probably the point but which is also completely unappealing to me.
Of all the guys on the US version, I'm most attracted to Mikey (Hal Sparks made me go 'ooo' when I saw him in Dude, Where's My Car?, Hal Sparks is, in short, my type), on the UK version it was Stuart, who, from what I've seen, is a very different creature from Brian.
So, yes. I like contrast on guys. Also, I tend to like the shorter guys. Although, there are always exceptions. Which is why it's a tendency and not a rule.
Not that any of this particularly matters, as I do not get Showtime.
Unrelated side note: Am still deeply in love with
silviakundera's B/X vid for Let Me Grow Old With You. I always get this little thrill when Buffy checks Xander's watch. Just casually picks up his hand and checks his watch, like "I do this all the time".
Related side note: Figured out who Justin was reminding me of in the promo! Luke Skywalker!

Date: 2003-01-10 12:34 pm (UTC)I might try to make another one - sort of a Top Ten B/X clips throughout the seasons thing.
Just a vid with:
first meeting scene
scene from Prophesy girl - dance with you lines and then later rescue
scene from When She Was Bad (the dance)
scene from Phases
scene from Killed by Death
season 3 - scene from graduation, where he's worried she won't come back from Faith fight
scene from The Freshman
scene from Xander watching Buffy/Riley kiss
scene from Riley leaving speech with total B/X subtext
scene from buffy/xander on bench before shooting
Of course, I'd have to GET MY HAND ON these scenes. heh.

Date: 2003-01-10 01:19 pm (UTC)Which is such an interesting thing, I've always thought. Just as it's significant that Buffy and Riley get together in 'Doomed', I wonder what it means that that B/X spend a lot of quality time in an episode called 'I Was Made to Love You'.

Love that. It's just... Ooo! You should also have the bit where Buffy is first walking into school, he catches sight of her and crashes into the stair. And with that moment, B/X is the first ship to make an appearance in the show.
scene from Prophesy girl - dance with you lines and then later rescue
Those are great. And I love seeing them dance together, as they do quite a bit after Buffy breaks the ice with...
scene from When She Was Bad (the dance)
The Sexy Dance. Which is way too hot and also heart-breaking, because Buffy is trying to hurt everyone involved.
scene from Phases
Gah. With the staking and the hug and the... pause. That moment.
Oh, and you might consider Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered. I love Buffy and Xander's conversation at the beginning of the episode. "I just think you could find someone more... better."
scene from Killed by Death
Dude. Just. Dude, yes.
season 3 - scene from graduation, where he's worried she won't come back from Faith fight
Great scene.
scene from The Freshman
I love his speech. I love that he was there to buck her up when she needed it the most. Oh, and that reminds me: Who is Buffy's first rebound guy? Parker. Parker who could be Xander's clone.
Oh! And you might consider the "Boy smell nice" moment from Beer Bad.
scene from Xander watching Buffy/Riley kiss
The one that's in the vid? Ooo!
scene from Riley leaving speech with total B/X subtext
*nods* It is so obvious that Xander is projecting with the Riley thing.
scene from buffy/xander on bench before shooting
Gah! "You know I love you, right?"
Season Seven has, as I've mentioned, the watch-checking moment. Lessons, in fact, has those two acting like such the old married couple. And Buffy does take Xander for granted, yes, but not any more, I think, than she does anyone else. And she definitely respects him and trusts him to be her back-up so many times.

Date: 2003-01-11 05:47 pm (UTC)but first I'm determined to do a W/T. Have all the footage... but I'm just intimidated by how large the project is in my head.
