I just wanted to talk about why I chose which pictures. Because, really, it's all about me. None of the icons are really positive. And this is not the place to claim icons.

I start with Revived!Buffy on top of the tower remembering her death ('the great divide' being the gulf between life and death).

Then, we have Hush!Tara, who fits both the 'voices trapped' and 'in yearning' parts of the line.

Then we have Buffy and Angel, just 'memories trapped in time'.

Buffy, learning that death is her gift.

Xander having just told Anya that the wedding is off - she'll never be satisfied.

Then we have Attempted Rape the first, with Xander holding Buffy down.

Tara kisses Willow, skipping past talking and rebuilding trust, she's loving not wisely but too well.

Darla meeting Angel for the first time. All of the 'take your breath away's are about bringing death (or trying to, in one case).

Buffy and Angel kissing in front of the vortex. Last kiss before death.

Anne!Buffy, stumbling through the world, lost and alone.

Tara, as she learns that Willow isn't to be trusted, betrayed again by her lover.

Buffy looking for something to hold onto in Lie to Me.

Buffy, trying to recover from the possession and Angelus' kiss.

Crypic!Angel, with lyrics that sum up their entire relationship.

Willow and Tara, in the calm before the storm.

Buffy and Spike, about to start one of the most unhealthy relationships imaginable.

The second attempted rape in the set, but the third on the show - Spike wanting to hold Buffy down and convince her that she loves him.

Giles and Anya kissing under a spell.

Dru, bringing death and vampirism to Willam the Bloody (Awful Poet).

Buffy to Dawn, before Buffy leaps off the tower to her death. A reversal from Becoming.

Buffy going off to her first Sunnydale vamp killing.

In Afterlife, after she's revealed that she was in heaven and had been torn out by her friends.

Buffy, finding out that she didn't come back wrong.

Xander's dream, which was definitely the creepiest of the four.

This scene popped into my head the second I read the lyric.

Tara and Willow, Tara singing of her devotion, unknowing that she is under Willow's spell.

The second attempted rape on the show (until it turned into an attempted murder) - Faith holds down Xander.

Faith!Buffy kisses Riley, another false kiss.

Ampata, almost kissing Xander. Notice, in this one, I don't include "And after, I'd wipe away your tears" because if Ampata had done, Xander would have just been dead dead, not walking around dead, like Angel and Spike.

Buffy after failing to keep Cassie from dying.

Buffy, beaten, bruised, and unconscious in Bring on the Night.

Because this is a great song, yeah. But it's not a love song. I first heard it in Victoria's Secret (due South) where it fit so perfectly.

Not a love song, an obsession song. A stalker song.

What was the first rape? I can't remember.

Also, I heard (and I don't remember where, so...grain of salt) that Sarah McLachlan was actually inspired to write this because of stalker letters that some guy was sending her. So yeah, you're definitely right about it not being a love song.

The first attempted rape was in the first season, in the Pack. Hyena!Xander makes it pretty clear what he wants. Luckily, Buffy knocks him out with a desk.

Then we have Faith attempted rape turn attempted homicide in Consequences before Angel saves Xander.

And I can believe that letter thing. I'm sure that she gets them.
