Wow. Look at that. Work. Man.

You know, I've never appreciated fast food servers enough. That is a demanding job. With the cleaning and cashiering and the busing and the shake-making and the supply fetching.

So, I worked four hours today and I'll be going in again tomorrow for another four.

I was talking to a grill guy (his name starts with an R, so I'll call him 'R' here.), and I accidentally let slip with a y'all. Y'all really have corrupted me online.

Anyway, R immediately asked me where I was from and he seemed surprised when I said Oregon. I ended up explaining about my dad being in the army and going to Germany, though actually my phrasing has nothing to do with my childhood and everything to do with y'all. R's pretty cute, though.

(and though my feet do hurt a touch, I'm mostly just being melodramatic using my Connor icon)

I'm from Northern Virginia, have tons of Southern relatives, and never used "y'all" until I took French. The lack of plural "you" in English made me start. Must have way to differentiate between singular and plural!

It is useful. Most of the time, whenever a 'you' is plural, I use y'all. And it's all clear! I mean 'all of you', not just 'hey, you'. Big fan. But I always end up saying it with a mild southern accent (I have no clue how I picked it up. none) and then people get confused when I'm not actually southern.

The fun times of fast food. I've done my fast food time, too. One year at Burger King and a couple of other jobs at Subway, Domino's Pizza and Circle K. The pain!

I remember being so frustrated that I was so underappreciated, that I actually wrote an article to the local paper about it. And they printed it. I still have it, too. If I find it, I'll let you know what it said. Hehe. It's kinda funny how passionate I was about my fast food jobs.
