But okay, more detail. Via wormholes--which traverse spacetime, and importantly here, time,--the crew ends up at Earth in 1986, when John is 17. John-the-elder is trying to prevents muck-ups in the spacetime continuum like his Dad going up on the Challenger and dying; Chiana is trying to get laid, and guess who she succeeds with?

Yes, he does. What happens is, Chiana gets in his truck (which is named Betty) and turns up the radio. He asks her what her name is.
"Chiana!" "Karen?" "...yeah, that's it. Karen! Shee-aw!" Which is apparently Nebari slang for cool. "Karen Shaw?"

Oh! The other thing in That Old Black Magic--Maldis get the vehicle wrong, yes? And John goes, no, it was my dad's four-by?
It wasn't actually his dad's four-by. It was Betty. But he was mind-whammied at the end of Kansas, and Chiana altered his memory slightly. I *love* that, especially considering it's three years between TOBM and Kansas, and Chiana hadn't even been intro'd yet...
Now that is the type of thing that should get shows worshipped. That's so impressive, that things that were casually mentioned in the first season get cool twists on them in the fourth. Man, Sci-Fi is evil and wrong for cancelling this show.
