Angel: A sea change
May. 14th, 2003 06:18 pmI was excited to see Angel on Buffy last night. I was anticipating his arrival, hoping that he'd show up early. I was thrilled to see him help Buffy, then back off to watch her, and then see them share a kiss.
I've never been a B/A shipper, because I've never really liked Angel.
Season four of Angel changed that. Seeing the Connor and Angel relationship made Angel real to me in a way that he's never been before. Now, when I see him with Buffy, it's two people that I admire kissing, not one person and her vampire attachment (which is still where Spike is in my head) sucking face.
Angel is a real person to me now, with hopes and dreams and tragedies.
And the kiss made total sense to me. Angel has let Connor go, and he seemed to be at peace with it at the end of Home (And I'm vaguely confused when people are all, "But he just killed his son." No. Even if you think that mind-wiping Connor is killing him, it looks to be a safe bet that Angel doesn't think that. In his mind, he just saved his son.). And Buffy and Angel have a physical connection, as well as an emotional one. And slaying gets Buffy revved up, and I'm not shocked that watching Buffy fight would do the same for Angel.
Plus, it was hot.
Woman + SouledVampireAttachment = Nothing for me
Woman + Hot Guy who happens to be a Souled Vamp = Lots of sparks
