Wow. That's my overall impression: wow. Also, this show is long, in that great way. Both Christina and Justin perform normal length, so it's about twice as long as *NSYNC's Celebrity was.
Opening Act
They did exactly what they were supposed to: they got me all revved up to see Christina and Justin. They were also fairly enjoyable in themselves. Much better than the guy who opened for *NSYNC on the Celebrity tour. Although I honestly could not understand most of what they were singing.
Part One
Such a voice on that woman.
She opened up with Dirrty and Get Mine, Get Yours, which are always fun. The opening video bits, with Christina tying herself from a chair and stripping off bits of clothing, was inspired. I adored it.
Next, she did Genie in a Bottle while attached to a huge 'X'. The beat for the song was much more harsh and adult than the frothy sound of the original version.
Fighter may have gotten the most screams for Christina. It kicked much ass.
Walk Away was amazing. And God, that male stripper was hot. Whoo. The screams were fairly loud for him, too.
Lady Marmalade and Infatuation kicked much ass. And she sounded and looked gorgeous sitting on a piano for Impossible.
The two Etta James covers were beautiful - I'd only ever heard At Last before, so I Prefer You was a new song for me.
But my favorite part was at the end, when she was just in jeans and a t-shirt that said, "God sees no color", and she sang Beautiful.
Christina is a hell of a singer and a person. Definitely. Wow.
Part Two
Justin. What can I say? He is the most charismatic person that I've ever seen. He isn't just a singer, isn't just a dancer, he's a performer.
He doesn't touch your mind or your heart, he grabs you by blood and bone. With Christina, I switched between watching her, watching the screen, and watching her dancers, but with Justin, I could not tear my eyes away for more than a second or two.
Everything that he does is a million times better in person than it is on tv or on a cd. So a song that I didn't care much for, like Rock Your Body, was hot performed live, and a song that I adored, like Cry Me a River (and the audience response on this one was just... incredible), is indescribably wonderful.
It's harder for me to pick out single songs with Justin: everything blurs into an amazing mess of screams and hormones. And there was a lot of screaming: whenever Justin did something interesting, whenever we thought Justin would appear. And there was a lot of spontaneous singing along, which, as with *NSYNC, is the kind where you can hear everyone singing along because it's That. Damn. Loud. The only Chrissy song where I could hear the audience sing was Fighter, but with Justin, it's nearly every song.
Like I Love You was a killer finish.
To sum up: One of them would have been worth the ticket price, both of them made it a steal.
