Sometimes, I get the urge to read a long, meaty fanfic story of a certain pairing.

Sadly, many times, I find myself frustrated by choosing a pairing wherein I can't find any long, good stories. Sure, if I'm in the mood for Clex, I'm set -- there's some great stuff out there, much of it long and highly enjoyable. And Harry/Draco isn't too hard to find. Fraser/Kowalski is also pretty easy to locate.

But sometimes, I want to read a lengthy O'Brien/Bashir and, well, I haven't yet found one (and if you have, I would love to read it). Or I'm in the mood for an epic Buffy/Xander, which can be thin on the ground (though I have found a few). Or John/Chiana. Gil/Nick. Fred/Wes. Ghanima/Leto II. These are harder to find (again, if you've found any of them, please let me know).

Sometimes, I think that the only way to get the stories I want is to write them. And that's not really the same. Oh, it might be fun (and it would, and I should work more on my stories -- though I am taking two writing-related classes next term, which should help keep my mind on the subject, at least) but it would be mine, which takes the 'first time' feeling out of it.

And while I'm here...

Say you were meeting a new person--blind date, new friend who knows? And you wanted them to have some idea of what kind of person you are, and who you are, but you can't actually tell them in so many words. Instead, you have to give them a box with a dozen things for them to look at, touch, read, taste, listen to, whatever. A copy of, or a link to your LJ (or a real diary) would be the same thing as telling them directly, so that's not allowed!

You can take a scroll through my rec page - http://www.sliverofice.com/ficrec.htm

*looks innocent* I also have my stuff sorted by pairing. *smiles*

Right now, it's only BtVS and AtS in the recs.

Oh, thank you very much. There's definitely a lot of stuff there that I haven't seen.

Well I don't knw about the others but B\X I can do. I have spent hours searching the web in the last couple of weeks for great B\X fics for my new sit Can I Have You?

For long Epics my favorite is Lost Destiny Series. It's long and slightly AU but the characters rally hold to theire BTVS counter parts. Excellent on all accounts.

For tons of smutty fun I also recommend The Cure Series. Starts off as PWP but ends up with a good emotional plot.

Hope that helped!

I'm right there with you on wishing for more John/Chiana fic. I don't really know why it doesn't exist, either - they're not the fandom OTP, but they're the kind of 'never gonna happen on the show' couple that fic writers usually love. And the story I've been itching to read lately is the Nebari attempt-to-take-over-the-universe, virus/resistance epic that I'd have sworn *someone* would have been inspired to write at some point in the last few years. *grumble*

It is tempting to write it myself, but I'm not sure I'd do a very good job of it.

I know! It has all the earmarks of a great UC 'ship. Why the lack of 'shippage? I just don't understand.

Do you know about [livejournal.com profile] the_rec_room? I've had luck browsing and posting requests there.
"This community is the place to go when you've got a yen for a particular kind of story, a certain pairing, but you can't find it.
Any fandom, any pairing, any style of fanfic. Yes, even RPsmut."

I'm assuming you mean Gil/Nick from CSI? Have you hit the Fingerprints archive?

I totally do. I've only seen the first season, but they have a neat, mildly creepy vibe that I enjoy.

I have found Fingerprints, but I left it craving more. Sadly, new G/N does not pop up fast enough.

I know that feeling. There's some stuff on Emily Brunson's page that hasn't popped up on the Fingerprints Archive, and I have a few shorts on my fic journal.

Coolness -- I went and found Emily's page and read the new (to me) fic there.

Ah, and I just figured out where your fic journal is, and I'm checking it out now.

Thank you.

Oh my. I hope you enjoy it. =) There's not much there (not yet at least) but I hope you do enjoy it.

And you're welcome.
