I've been told that this may, in fact, be the Worst Episode Of the Series. Well, it's good to get these things out of the way.

Oh, I see. The set-up for this episode doesn't bode well. And considering it's reputation as one of the worst episodes, they probably aren't going to be handling the issue with anything resembling subtlety.

I love Daniel's desire to study. He's such a cute, adorable geek.

*hearts Daniel*

Not getting the guys' reactions to the dress, since I think Carter looks much better in her normal military duds. She mostly just looks uncomfortable in the dress.

"How is it that you always come up with the worst case scenario?"
"I practice."

Daniel actually has to really understand this in a way none of the others do -- Sha're was a gift, yes? He's had to work through this particular cultural hurdle before.

Okay, that warlord's daughter looks nothing like either of her parents. She looks very western civilization.

I think that Daniel may have gone just a little overboard there.

Clapping looks so wrong. Whether or not it is, it still looks it.

Definitely not as bad as I was afraid it would be. There's something to be said for low expectations.

Oh yeah. It's not that bad an episode. It's just... it's a bit pointless, to have it in there when SO much exposition still needs to be done (the entire first season is pretty much exposition). And the theme is hammered in too hard without much subtlety, and AT *does* look much better in her military gear. And it goes along with CotG in making Sam All About The Feminism, which thankfully dissipates pretty much right after this.

Thank goodness. Because I like feminism. Feminism is good. But it's as damn annoying as anything else when used as an anvil.

Whenever someone says something bad about my favourite show, I feel the urge to defend it.

Okay, I can't come up with anything. That episode is just really really bad. Thank you for saying so many nice things about it, I am not sure if I could have done the same.
Things I liked:
-the guys reaction to Carter in the dress. Not that I understand why they reacted that way, but it was cute. the dress was really ugly and Carter is way sexier in tight BDUs. Preferably with a sleeveless top.

-the horses. We don't get to see many animals in Stargate, probably because it is too expensive. Even if the Goa'uld were responsible for every human civilisation on other planets because they brought humans from earth as slaves, people would still have brought their cats and dogs, right? Or they would have domesticated animals on other planets. Anyway, I liked the horses.

-I liked the fight. The reason for the fight eludes me, because they could just have taken off, but CArter was secy fighting, and I am shallow.

-If I am honest, I also liked the idea of the society where women don't have the same rights as men. It has taken us several thousand years to give men and women the same rights, and there are still many many countries on earth where women are still considered less valuable. So why should the Goa'uld of all "people" have introduced emancipation in their slave worlds?
