butterfly: (Identity -- Daniel Jackson)

So, less serious thoughts. I just watched the three-episode season six Daniel Jackson arc. Damn, even when he's only in three episodes, his character moves. Daniel Jackson shifts and adjusts and it all feels so organic to his character. From Abyss through The Changeling to Full Circle, I definitely saw Daniel's growing frustration.

I also had to feel sorry for Sam, because Daniel's visitations to Jack and Teal'c were... really nice. And wowza, but Jack and Daniel have sparks together. They banter in a way that reminds me of Pacey and Joey, but with, you know, mostly better writing. They just have this extra *zing* together.

I really like Maybourne. Amoral and ruthless, but he's likable enough for all that. Utterly Slytherin, come to think.

Sarah/Osirus? Really fucking hot. Sha're was also hot. Daniel Jackson attracts some very attractive women. Of course, he's very hot himself (and gets hotter pretty much by the season, which is unfair because he was already really, really hot in the first season -- you know, I shocked my mom when I started watching Stargate and said that Michael Shanks was 'cuter' than Paul Gross. She felt better when I said that Paul was still the more beautiful. Because I'd been saying, since I first saw Mountie on the Bounty that first time, that Paul Gross is the most gorgeous man alive. But now I've seen Daniel circa season six and... damn, Paul Gross got bumped to second. Amazing.), and he's DoublePlusGoodSmart. And he's all ethical, which is a turn-on for me (see: Benton Fraser, Buffy Summers, Clark freakin' Kent (Lois and Clark), etc). And the language thing. Gah. The few pictures and poor-ish vid that I've seen of season seven indicate that he's even more attractive there.

If he gets any hotter, he may actually supernova and become a black hole. Because right now, he's definitely a blue-white.

Didn't see the issue with Anise/Freya. Not terribly likable, but, you know, Tok'ra.

I quite like Jonas. Still, I'm aware that I may not have liked him if I'd watched him on the team without knowing that Daniel would return. I've had my share of petty moments.

Jack's kinda snippy with Daniel in S4 in an almost mean way, but that seems to go away after The Light, and he's just normal Jack-snippy again. Hmm. Sadly, he returns to normal just after Daniel has begun his multi-season ethics-related breakdown (Absolute Power). But the guys themselves are so much closer in S5, even in their arguments.

(So, it's the fourth of July in all parts of the world that follow the Gregorian calendar. If you feel like celebrating the United States of America, today would seem to be the appointed day. I... very much respect the attempts that were and are being made and the freedoms that have been secured. But even today, especially today, it's important to remember that the ideals of truth, freedom, justice, and equality are still ideals and not as yet true and consistent realities.)
