So, my first day of actually being at VividCon (minus the half day that was just being in, you know, Chicago) has been interesting.

Technically, the first day is still going on. People are dancing and generally having a time, but I can only take so much noise and people-ness before it gets to be too much, soI bailed. I'm really no good at parties. Much prefer one-on-one talking or small groups.

Hung out entirely in the vid room today, though I am thinking of checking out panels tomorrow. So many of the vids are new to me, because I've only seen what I've stumbled across online.

Saw two really good Professionals vids and am fighting the urge to see if the show is on dvd. I also got to see some vids that I adore on a big screen, which was fantastic.

But the big (crazy, scary) thing is, of course, the people. So far, I've met several and been too nervous to meet others. I have managed to say 'hi' to sisabet, barkley, destina, and katie_m among a few others.

Katie's wonderful and amazing and may have lent me season seven of Stargate to watch. Eee! Season seven Stargate! Daniel! With the nudity and the alive-ness. Seriously, though, the sheer generosity of fellow fans always floors me.

The Professionals is on DVD, but it's Region 2 only - so you'd need to order it from the UK, and would need a region-free player to watch it. I own the box set, but not the player, so I go to a friend's house to watch episodes (so far we've gotten to Season 3). this isn't a hardship, except I can't marathon through, and I can't rewatch, but the joy in sharing the slashy goodness is great.

if you figure out a way to watch it, you're welcome to borrow a season or so, to discover how much you like it before buying it yourself.

Hmm. Do you know if they plan on ever releasing it on region 1?

I don't think so. that's not to say it might not happen eventually, but I seriously doubt it - it's an old British show, rarely (if ever) shown in the US, and I doubt there'd be much of a market for it.

too bad, because it's a lot of fun. region-free players are available for not-too-much (and depending on the age of your computer, that player might actually be region-free), and the offer stands if you ever get access to a player.

You are intimidating and pretty! The idea was too scary!

*hides*

Seriously, though, it sounds so silly when I am online and thus not looking at people, but at the Con? You were a person and not little words on a screen. I'm used to the words. People are scary.

Next year we can all put bags over our heads with our default LJ icons on the front :)

apologies for OT commenting, but having just read one of JIC's stories, I found myself in your nsync pages, and the photo you use for Lance, with the wings? I have to ask - is that a manip, or where is it from? Winged Lance. This makes me *very* happy indeed. Thank you.

You're very welcome...

And thank you. I actually created that manip and I'm thrilled that you like it (at one point, I used a mini-version as an icon as well).

RIGHT. Either next summer, or the summer after, I will be in Seattle. And what shall I do when I'm in Seattle? I shall cease to be in Seattle for a weekend and go to Vividcon.

Where I shall hide behind you because of Fear Of The Vidders.

Eeeee! Yes! You must. I'm already totally planning to go again next year (thus probably the year after as well), and so you must go so that I can meet you and hug you and then smack you for getting me into The Most Addictive Fandom Ever.

You're in Oregon, aren't you? I assure you I'm going to stalk you at some point in my Seattle summer. Travelling's no fun unless you can stalk fandom people, say I!

Whether I come next summer or the summer after will depend almost entirely on whether Ireland qualifies for World Cup 2006, which will be held in Germany. For various reasons, I'd rather do 2006 (after than that isn't an option, as I'll no longer be eligible for a student's summer work visa in the US) but there's no way in hell I'll miss another one of Ireland's World Cups, especially since Germany is so close. Actually, just being in America while any World Cup was on would kind of suck. All the games would be on when I'd be asleep or at work.

I've got to learn how to drive very soon. I don't want to be in America for a summer without the ability to drive, but I haven't even organised my first lesson yet.

I completely invite you to stalk me (is it still stalking in that case?).

You must let me know. Definitely.
