butterfly: (Not crazy - Lex)

I got my due South S3 dvds today. Much happiness because of this.

Something that I noticed this time around is how clear they make it that even an amnesic Clark is intrigued by Lois. When he first lands, he shows little concern for everything, but after a minute or two with Lois, he's curious about her enough to ask what her name is. He lets her lead him around. He actually lets her keep him in the room the first time and when he does move her, he's very gentle but firm about it.

"You talk a lot," he tells her, and he doesn't sound displeased by it. I also love seeing her circle around him and the way he just slightly turns his head so that he can listen to her.

I also adore her reactions to him. He's a naked guy and she's going to enjoy the view (I still love her, "Look at his face," and the fact that her gaze immediately lowers to... not his face). And I absolutely love her smile after he moves her out of the way. That's the woman who'll be hot for Superman. Plus, she's taller than the other women on the show. It'll be much easier for him to kiss her, because she's not short.

Also, he loses his formality in the end of that scene with Lois -- he says, "I'm leaving."

I adore Lois' attitude. She's so incredibly oblivious to tact. And she just appropriates Clark's kitchen and mom like they're hers.

And on the color note: Lois wears red under her coat and we actually get to see her red shirt in her scene with Martha (and when she leaves, the bright red of her shirt and the blue of her jeans glow so brightly in the sunlight -- she's a beacon pointing straight to Clark's future). Kal-El and Lana both wear black and considering that he eventually leaves behind that particular aspect of his 'kryptonian destiny', I'm rather happy that she's wearing black.

Lex wears white, which looks hot on him (Lana also technically wears white, if we count, you know, sheets and towels, which we probably should). Also, it sets him up in a direct visual contrast with Kal-El/Lanabeforethetattoo/Krypton. Martha wears faded green (fitting, since she does use a non-kill variety of kryponite on Clark) and Jonathan is in a hospital and doesn't count (though he is in a very faded blue -- not Superman blue, but still blue). Lionel wears his prison orange, and while at the a jail, Lois has a black sweater over her red shirt.

When Clark is back as himself, his mom is firmly in red and his dad in blue. Clark wears a white t-shirt. In the graveyard scene, Clark is right back into his red and blue, while Lois is now in orange-red with white underneath -- another little Lois&Clark connection with the white shirts in their familial scenes (Clark&Kents, Lois with Chloe's grave).

Theory on flight -- Clark is still earthbound because he's scared of heights. Also, I do wish that they'd been less obvious in the final Kent scene. It's so very... sappy.

I do adore Lois' strength at the prison with Lionel. She doesn't back away an inch. That's Lois Lane, abrasive and tough as all hell. And I love that she can't let herself cry, even when she's alone at her cousin's grave.

Then there's the graveyard scene, which apparently bugged some people. And I only see any flirtiness on Lois' part after Clark, you know, invites her to stay at his house. And I hope that he cleared that with his parents, but it seemed like an impulsive act, much like the way he blurts out that Chloe's alive. He just seems to want to let Lois in, tell her everything. Impulse or instinct. He just... likes her, trusts her. I said that I didn't see any flirtiness on Lois' part until the very end, but Clark seems very aware of her from the beginning of their scene together. When speaking of Chloe, he's quiet and thoughtful, but the second that the subject is purely about Lois and himself, his eyes are warm. I'm only used to seeing that look in his eyes in the best of the Clark and Lex moments.

Both Lex and Lois are such larger-than-life personalities, full to the brim with words and life. And Clark reacts to that vibrant life with a sense of joy. He reacts to the pure... humanity that they send out with each breath.

Also, I'm so planning on having a Lois icon after next week's episode airs and I feel okay about waving around the 'casting spoiler'. Because she's so hot and tough and perfectly Lois. I'm just so happy that they didn't screw up Lois Lane.

You know, I love reading your musings on these shows... There's always something there that I never noticed/paid attention to. :)

And remember the last time Lex wore a white suit - in Cassandra's vision during the rain of blood. White on him is ... ominous.

Very much. Hmm... considering the two times that white suits have shown up, I wonder if it isn't being used as a symbol for knowledge and the light of truth and how it can corrupt. He finds 'the sign' wearing white, we see him in white in the dream, where he touches a flower and kills the field and smiles. And, of course, in the dream, red blood rains down on him as he stares up, while in Crusade, the porno!doc has to strip the shirt off him in order to process his black blood.
