So, yesterday's shopping trip was highly successful, as I have now secured all but a handful of the gifts that I need. Yay for Hawthorne, which has some good shops.

I'm buying my brother something online and having it shipped to him, traitor that he is for putting work before family. Damn his work ethic!

*shakes fist*

Heh. I'm really proud of him, of course -- the project he's doing sounds big... and boring to me, yeah, but not to him. Also, he's sending postcards from Taiwan.

I plan on sending out Christmas cards today and tomorrow. As mom reminded me, we now have less than twenty days to Christmas -- a holiday best known for a fat guy who wears red and likes to have kids sit on his lap. And then he gives them gifts as a reward for 'being good'.

And apparently there was a peacenik guy born on some day of the year around two-thousand years ago, but nobody really pays attention to him. He was pretty radical and anti-government, after all.

I hear that Chanukah (various spellings available many places) begins after the sun sets tomorrow night. The 25th day of Kislev. Very cool.

Also, hooray for Yule (also known as Gwyl Canol Gaeaf or Winter Solstice), which is on the twenty-first through the twenty-third.

So, in advance of all that, Happy Holidays to everyone.

Yup, it'll be starting.

Actually, it runs from the 18th-25th of Kislev -- and as the days of the Hebrew calendar goes sundown to sundown, it exactly coincides to that. Unlike how the first night is 7 Dec, but the first day is 8 Dec of our calendars.

And yo, I am very excited, as I have old socks and somehow suspect I will be getting at least 8 new pairs.

Sweet. Very cool to know. Thank you.

And hee. New socks can be nice.

Oops. I spoke too soon!

Hannukah is actually Kislev 25 to Tevet 3. Oopsie. Don't know why I thought it started on the 18. Clearly, I suck with the Judaica.

In any case, I should also extend my wishes to you for a happy holiday season.

Thank you. I'm looking forward to Christmas -- brightly-colored gifts and good food. It's a good excuse to spend time with family.

Have you ever heard Longhaired Radical Socialist Jew (http://www.kickidle.com/blog/archives/000192.php)?
