GooglePlus?

I'm seeing a lot of people posting about GooglePlus - is it exceptionally awesome? From what I've heard, it's Google's answer to facebook. I took the tour, which seemed intriguing, and signed up to potentially get an invitation from them, but it seems like there exists a way to expedite the invitation process?

This is an exceedingly difficult question. I have loved many lead female characters (but some of them I know I'll be able to get to in later questions).
