Back from Serenity charity screening
Jun. 24th, 2006 01:30 amTired but happy. I really love that movie. I love Joss -- much as I really like the shows that I'm into these days, none of them have Joss' bite and power. Rewatching Serenity reminded me of how much I love the people that he creates -- Mal and Wash and River and Simon and Zoe and Kaylee and Inara and Book and Jayne all matter to me on this very personal level. I really feel that I know them and that... yes, we're part of something together, about creating a world and a place that makes a difference.
To me, Mal represents endurance -- that ability to last through pain and loss and come out the other side. Watching the show and the movie, some part of his strength becomes my own, and that's the true power of great art -- the power of inspiration. Joss Whedon is an artist, and a very good one.
