Apr. 5th, 2005 12:32 pmEven thinking about my lost story upsets me. I'll probably try to write it again tomorrow, but for now, my creative energies are being funneled into my other AU, the long-assed one that is safely in MS Office and one other place (yay for back-ups).
My meme is still not completely guessed, so I won't mention the pairings that haven't been guessed yet, but I really hadn't realised how many of my favorite couples are het pairings. Out of the seven that have been guessed, four are het and three are slash (m/m). If you give me powerful chemistry and an interesting relationship, I don't care what the genders involved are.
All ten favorite characters have been guessed, seven male and three female. What do Daniel, Rodney, Laura, Buffy, Wesley, Joey, Simon, Julian, Clark, and Benton have in common? Maybe they don't all share a common thread. Not even the one of 'look at the hotness!'. I mean, I've come to find Rodney very attractive, but it was definitely a 'personality first' situation and Sheppard is definitely hotter in my eyes.
I like Simon Tam and Julian Bashir for being hot, brilliant doctors, but I also like Julian because of the way his character darkens and complicates over the years, similar to, though not as extreme as, Wesley. Buffy and Joey are both girls who grow into women and find their own happiness. Buffy and Clark are superheroes struggling with what that means, with the secrets and the fears (and you can probably toss Julian into that pile as well, with the genetic manipulation). Laura and Buffy are strong female leaders. Rodney and Joey both hide their loneliness with an off-putting shell. Daniel is brilliant and casually arrogant, in direct contrast to Rodney, who is intensely aware of his intelligence (and limitations). Benton and Joey remind me of each other in having a dead mom, an absent dad, being raised by other family, and thus trying to be as 'good' as possible to get approval from others.
