LOL -- I should've known you'd see this! It's not so much that you're intimidating; you're really not. You've always been kind and down to earth and very sweet in your email/list mail responses to me. The problem is my own self-esteem issues, particularly with regard to my lack of formal education, which is a real insecurity button for me. There's a nasty little part of my brain that says I have no business trying to pretend equality with a fantastic writer who is also a university professor with a PhD and a glamorous lifestyle who leaves really intellectual comments in my intellectual friends' LJs that I sometimes don't even understand because I never took the classes and don't know the lingo.... Well, as you can see, I'm practically a psychiatrist's new Mercedes!
But...objection sustained and judgement overturned! All my neuroses notwithstanding, you really are one of the nicest people I've met in fandom. :)
