I feel as though I should say something about the recent kerfluffles. Because, well, I like to talk.

a) frienditto -- had never heard of this before today. Could care less, really. My flocked posts are either because I feel guilty about inflicting my personal angst on the general public or because I've remembered that my mom knows about my journal, though she doesn't read it (she believes in personal space for her children). And if any of you reproduce any of my flocked posts somewhere, I'll probably just worry about your priorities. I'm not that interesting.

b) ignoring minorities in fic -- all I have to say is that one of the primary examples that people used was a bad one. Gunn has fic everywhere. Gunn/Wes was the pairing of season two and I tripped over it even when I wasn't looking (also big mostly just for that year: Angel/Lindsey, this has nothing to do with the topic at hand, but I like Lindsey a lot). And people love Gunn enough to forgive two years of really horrible canon (I mean, I love Fred, but that relationship really worked a number on Gunn). And he got plenty of canon love, too. Have we forgotten so quickly the hotness of Gunn/Gwen? His character just got fucked over by the people in charge for a while. Not the fans' fault.

My brother would come in, freak out at the first mention of the slash thing (because I explained the term to him at some point... probably to see him twitch, because I'm a horrible person and as his sister, I have rights) and then bail. So, I'm not overly worried about the family thing, except on days when I feel paranoid.

Kind of random, and hope this isn't stepping out of bounds or anything but... *hugs you hard* Been reading everybody's comments on Ros' and swmbo's posts, and saw your comment. I'm so sorry things were rough on you. I don't even know Gloss, but I'm sorry that you ever had to deal with the kind of behaviour Ros and swmbo and others are describing. *hugs again*
