Character Love Meme:

Because how can I possibly resist being handed the chance to babble about the characters that I adore? So, I did one for every show that I feel fannish about at this moment in time.
Angel
1. The first character you first fell in love with:
Doyle. I have a great fondness of dark-haired Irish boys with light eyes (see: Jones, Stuart Alan). And Doyle was wonderful -- at first, he came across as complete a stereotype, and then you find out more and more about him, and there's this sweet guy who's hurt and hiding. Plus, he was totally bisexual ("Maybe I'm a little attracted."). What's not to love?
2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now:
Angel. I was completely shocked at the end of Buffy when I was eager to see Angel show up. That was the moment that I realized that I genuinely liked his character. Only took seven years.
3. The character everyone else loves that you don't:
Lilah Morgan. I don't dislike her, but I never got the Lilah thing. I think that she was an interesting character who brought a lot to the show, but I never really felt fond towards her.
4. The character you love that everyone else hates:
I was torn between saying Fred or saying Eve. I'll go with Fred, since she was a regular. I'll be honest -- I really don't see the Mary Sue thing. Two guys fell in love with Fred. The main character of the show wasn't one of them. Fred was super smart. Kinda like... let me think about this one... there has to be another character on the show who was ultra smart and who repressed bad experiences. A guy. With glasses, like Fred did. Maybe even someone who had two character regulars in love with him over the course of the series, or even two characters attracted to him at the same time. Oh, and with an accent. Gotta have an accent.
Well, it'll come to me.
I also really liked Kate.
5. The character you used to love but don't any longer:
Nope. Can't think of anyone. I don't fall out of love much.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
1. The first character you first fell in love with:
Xander. He was funny and vulnerable and had such pretty eyes. Plus, my first episode was The Pack, so I had Xander handed to me, tied up with a big red bow and a note that said, "enjoy".
2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now:
Willow. First through third season Willow still annoys me beyond compare, but I began to like her when she met Tara and after Tara died, I really started to like her for herself.
3. The character everyone else loves that you don't:
Faith. Like Lilah, she just doesn't appeal to me. And I never forgave her for nearly raping and killing Xander, mostly because she (and the show) pretty much just dismissed the whole thing. So, no love for Faith.
4. The character you love that everyone else hates:
Dawn, maybe -- is she still hated? Buffy and Xander get a fair amount of hate, as does last season Spike.
5. The character you used to love but don't any longer:
Giles is the closest of any character to this character. The love isn't gone, but it has been tarnished.
due South
1. The first character you first fell in love with:
Definitely Fraser himself. Everything that I like in a fictional guy, plus he's Canadian. Seriously, though, I adore him, from his screw-up with Victoria to his polite manner.
2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now:
Vecchio. I got into the show via Fraser and Kowalski, so for a while, Vecchio was just Fraser's first partner. But I've really come to respect and enjoy him as a character in his own right.
3. The character everyone else loves that you don't:
Elaine. She just felt superfluous, just there to be yet another woman who couldn't resist Fraser. I was so glad that they made her a cop and moved Frannie into the civilian aid position.
4. The character you love that everyone else hates:
Dewey, who I find cute in an annoying way. But I don't know if people actually hate Dewey so much as ignore him. But I love him. Also, Victoria, whom I like for reasons similar to why I like Darla in Angel so much.
5. The character you used to love but don't any longer:
Again, I can't think of anyone.
The Lord of the Rings
1. The first character you first fell in love with:
Frodo. First off, we have the physical type -- dark curls and blue eyes are really my favorite combination in the world. Then we have his bookish, yet very brave personality.
2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now:
Sam. Actually, falling for Sam set into motion a new pattern of falling head-over-heels for caretaker types. He started a new trend for me. That's actually possibly why I'm seeing so much more in Queer as Folk this time around -- I've been attuned to pay attention to caretakers.
3. The character everyone else loves that you don't:
Eowyn. Who I like quite a bit, but nearly as much as everyone else seems to. She's great and all, but she's not that great.
4. The character you love that everyone else hates:
Arwen. Adored her from the first time that I saw her. Actually, come to think, for many of the same reasons that I love Frodo.
5. The character you used to love but don't any longer:
Again, can't think of anyone.
Queer as Folk
1. The first character you first fell in love with:
Stuart Alan Jones. Feel free to add in a love-sick sigh.
The first time that I watched QaF, it was all about Stuart for me. I thought he was the most beautiful creature in the world. He's still pretty far up there. And he's definitely the most sensual and sexual of any of the characters that I love.
2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now:
Nathan. When I first saw him, I thought he was a completely useless little brat. Now... well, I still think that, but with affection.
3. The character everyone else loves that you don't:
Glory, I haven't the faintest. The series is so perfectly set together that I don't think there's anyone that I don't at least appreciate.
4. The character you love that everyone else hates:
Cameron, perhaps. I like him quite a bit. Completely wrong for Vince, of course, but not a bad guy. Do people hate him?
5. The character you used to love but don't any longer:
I love them all more by the moment.
Stargate
1. The first character you first fell in love with:
Jack, actually. I met him before I met Daniel. I loved his refrain of 'retired' and just his attitude. Children of the Gods is a wonderful introduction to Jack O'Neill as played by RDA.
2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now:
McKay, who was such an asshole in his first episode and has improved each time that we've seen him. Another choice is Maybourne. There's also Kinsey, actually. Jacob, who came across as a jerk in his first episode. Jonas. Lots, actually. Stargate's rather good at that.
3. The character everyone else loves that you don't:
Not sure. Any character that I dislike seems to have plenty of people on either side.
4. The character you love that everyone else hates:
Hailey. Yes, she was only on the show for two episodes. But everyone else that I love is rather loved already.
5. The character you used to love but don't any longer:
Really can't think of anyone. My feelings for Sam are ever-changing, but I don't think that I love her less now, on average.
