First - I love your icon. hehe - Civilian Consultant? Since when do we arm them?! I never really thought about how odd it is that Daniel really has become one of the military guys- or at least as close as the science geeks on the show ever have.
It was the incongruity of the quote vs what Daniel actually ends up doing that inspired the icon. I was thinking about Daniel, as a civilian consulant and about how familiar he was with guns these days and how he went on missions where his personal experitise wasn't needed, and he was sorta just another trusted soldier, in a way that none of the other non-military scientists seem to be expected to be.
And - I liked your review. I agree with you that everyone seems a little off in their new found positions on the team. While they are all doing well, there is a different vibe.
There really does. Sam works better and seems happier when she has someone who has the military authority to smack her down. Jack works better when he's out in the field, actively keeping his team and the world safe. And Daniel is happier with his team.
I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season - I'm hoping they actually 'catch' an ancient - wouldn't that be cool?
