Stargate SG-1; Season Nine; Episode One -- Avalon

I was one huge bucket of sheer squee tonight.

First off, the credits change -- I'm going to be upfront about something. The only credits in SG-1 that I ever liked were first season. I was vastly disappointed when they were exactly the same second and third season (third season was especially disappointing, as the contrast in Daniels was really obvious). I hated the fourth and fifth season credits and have found sixth through eighth just about bearable. I've been spoilt by Joss Whedon's attention to credits sequences and doubt that any other shows will manage to live up to his.

So, I didn't mind losing the credits.

The little bit of Jack that we did get was good, though I wanted to see him with Daniel.

Speaking of Daniel, there was nothing that I didn't love. Trying to go to Atlantis! Throwing a pillow at Vala (and the look on Teal'c face when that happened was priceless)! Just... Daniel.

I adored Cameron. Absolutely. His love-fest for the entirety of SG-1 was beyond adorable.

I love that Sam is working over at Area 51 doing scientist things. Yay!

I also completely loved Vala. So much. Her focus, her humor, her edge of nuttiness. She's fun.

I like the Merlin thing. I like the new direction. I had a lot of fun watching SG-1 tonight.

I grinned at the 'to be continued'. Was so thrilled. Newness next week!

I also really adored SGA and BSG, but I can never think of anything to say about them.

YES YES YES!

And I love the Daniel & Vala show. They are so adorable. It's like gradeschoolers crushing on each other and showing it by sticking pigtails in an inkwell.

What time is Mama M coming over? Because I wouldn't be averse to watching them again (and again, and again).

It is *so* time for Daniel to get some romance again -- or some joking around from someone not Sam. Love the Teal'c-Cameron comments, as well as the little bit of Jack we saw. I suspect that Jack knew all along that Cameron would have to talk SG-1 into coming back together -- but he figured that was Cam's job, because he'd done it himself for far too long. And the look on Cam's face when he found out that there was no SG-1 any more. Such a fanboy!

Daniel and Vala were adorable together. I look forward to more of their arguing/bantering.

It has been a while since Sha're.

And I like your perspective on Jack's actions. I think it makes sense -- he's giving Cameron what he wants, but making him work for it.

SG-1 is a pretty independent and hardheaded group; they're not going to follow just anybody. If Sam had stayed, she'd be leading it and he'd just be one of the group -- and he'd have to prove himself as an equal. This way, they all have to get used to each other while working on a problem, which is how they work best, and he gets a chance to learn how they work and how they think.
