So, we finally find out why Wes pulled his gun on Travis. And the reasons for it make all the tiny things about the show that hadn't been making sense fall into place.

Because why on earth would Wes be trusted with a gun around Travis after he pulled one on him? Why would Wes be willing to go to therapy to save his partnership with a guy he pulled a gun on but not go to therapy to save his relationship with his wife? And how in the world did Wes and Travis's relationship work before the great gun pulling?

We couldn't answer those questions because we were missing a huge piece of the puzzle. Wes and Travis used to be a Trio. Pac-Man/Daniel* was a vital part of how their friendship worked. Wes and Travis didn't need to recover from Wes betraying Travis by pulling a gun on him (which is something that always smelled wrong! Travis has never been nervous around Wes carrying a gun on the show) -- they needed to recover from grief over losing their friend and they needed to figure out how to be a Duo instead of a Trio (and this also explains why both of them kept trying to drag Alex into the middle of things, especially in the beginning). It's like if one of the Harry Potter Trio had died in the final battle in book seven -- it would take time for the two survivors to figure out how to make things work with such a big hole in their lives/relationship.

Wes risked his career for Travis by pulling the gun on him -- of course he'd go to therapy for the sake of their partnership! That's a minor thing compared to what he'd already done.

*Speaking of Pac-Man -- he was awesome! I wish we'd been able to get to know him better but even in the brief time we had, the actor was great at conveying the relationships and history that he had with Wes and Travis.
