2011: A Summary
Dec. 31st, 2011 11:27 amMostly, what I did this year was attend school. I learned many interesting things there which will be useful for my future career. I did manage to sneak some fandom stuff in, though, in my free time.
I bought the Vampire Diaries S1 dvds this year. I started to get sucked into the show/fandom at the end of 2010, but the true fannishness happened in 2011 and I'm pretty sure that it'll continue strong into and through 2012.
Wrote a baby ficlet for TVD: Suckerpunch (also available on AO3).
Made a Damon (/Katherine; /Elena) vid: Addicted.
I also wrote summaries for how my two long-running WIPs would have continued (had I finished them) - those are in Star Wars and Doctor Who fandoms.
I watched American Idol and saw the Scotty win coming from pretty far away.
Saw Kris Allen AT THE VIPER ROOM. He was perfection, y'all, and he premiered a song for us (Shut That Door And Keep That Devil Out) and it was awesome.
Man, I'm so looking forward to hearing his new music (come out soon, Kris's new music!). I'm really hoping that I'll get to see Kris in concert again in 2012. Love his voice, and he's even better live than he is recorded. On a related notes, Kris performed at Trevor Live. Still thrilled about that.
Oh, another of the songs that he wrote back in 2009 has popped up, btw, on someone else's album - "Blindfolded" (it's the 11th song on the list). Kris wrote so many gorgeous love songs in late 2009.
I wrote only one longer fic this year: A Matter of Timing (Kris/Adam; AU fusion with the movie TiMER; here it is on AO3).
Adam Lambert's single for his second album finally came out in mid-December: Better Than I Know Myself. Looking forward to that album and tour in 2012 as well.
I watched The Borgias and Torchwood: Miracle Day and very much enjoyed both. Looking forward to new Borgias in 2012 sometime.
I watched X-Men: First Class and liked it well enough that I made a vid: Eric's Song (Erik/Charles).
I tried out both The Secret Circle and Ringer but didn't stick with either of them.
I started reading Steve Rogers/Tony Stark fic. Before I'd seen any of the canon. The last time I did that was when I started reading speranza's Sentinel fic. Then I watched the pre-Avengers movies and loved all of them. I loved Steve and Peggy, and Thor and Jane and Darcy and Clint and Loki and Sif and the Warriors Three, and Tony and Pepper and Rhodey and Natasha and Fury. All of them. ♥ Looking forward to The Avengers so much, you guys.
I just recently started reading The Vorkosigan Saga and got hooked! Very readable space opera. I also got snagged by a great fanfic slash spin-off.
The trailer for The Hobbit came out and I squeed. I was also impressed by the new Mission Impossible movie. Tom Cruise can still make a good movie, y'all.
Also, I've written a couple of stories for the Vampire Diaries and Kradam holiday exchanges, but those won't go up under my own name until early next year.
Also, I still really need to see Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows and The Muppet Movie. They're on my list!
