Avengers: questions of continuity
Nov. 13th, 2011 02:24 pmI am trying to decide whether or not to watch Captain America right now. Because I have it but will not be able to get Thor for a while (for various reasons). But Thor happens before Captain America (...in terms of Marvel movies; not in terms of absolute chronology, I assume, unless Thor is also a period piece).
I've been reading fanfic and scans and Thor is a pretty important part of the initial Avengers' team, along with Tony and Steve (and Jan aka The Wasp and Hank aka omg he has a million codenames I can't keep up, neither of whom are appearing in the movies from what I've heard). Plus, I hear good things about the movie.
I guess I'm wondering if anything will get thrown off if I watch Captain America before Thor.
side note: I kinda love the whole numbered-universes thing that Marvel has going on. My favorite Steve/Tony stuff is, I think, the 616-verse stuff, which is the main comicsverse, if I understand correctly. That's the one that had the Civil War and the Confession, yes? Anyway, that one. It squeezes my heart.

*nods* A version of Captain America's shield showed up in IM2, I noticed.

Date: 2011-11-14 12:26 am (UTC)Yes, Earth-616 is the main comics continuity, and it's definitely awesome. Though Earth-20051 is absolutely adorable and pretty much made up entirely of standalone stories, so continuity isn't really an issue.
