Vampire Diaries: 2x16 - "The House Guest"
Feb. 24th, 2011 07:56 pmStefan seems kinda hopped up in that opening scene, like he is when he's on human blood.
Katherine's double-fake-out was great. And, yeah, don't blame Elena for being pissed off. Ouch. Have those Salvatore boys maybe thought about not choking people? Especially when there's a double running around. But, yeah, that explains why Elena was so angry in the cut scene. Katherine had just tricked Stefan into choking Elena. I'd be miffed, too.
Matt has scenes in this episode!
Have Elena and Stefan always had matching school satchels?
"Or maybe she's trying to lure you and Damon back into her web. I want her gone."
Elena has been very 'the two of you', 'you and Damon' and all sorts of inclusive Stefan-Damon-as-a-package recently. Since 2x10, I think.
Damon-Katherine scene - "Did you know I would die?" he asks her, and she avoids answering. I'm... pretty sure that's a 'yes' (and then she just goes ahead and admits it later).
YES! The Alaric-Elena scene of my heart. I have wanted this so badly. He wants to tell Jenna the truth.
"It's not fair to her and it's not the kind of relationship I want," he says re: the lying. I know, right? I can't imagine actually wanting to lie and pretend all the time in a relationship! That seems so unhealthy.
"I hate to put this on you," Alaric tells Elena. "But I feel it's your decision to make. And whatever you decide to do, I'll respect it."
...okay, I officially win all the cookies ever. That was exactly the reason that I speculated Alaric wasn't telling Jenna. It was the only thing that made sense to me.
Also, how much do I love how Alaric and Elena are complete equals here? It gives me, like, chills, I don't know. I love it. It's awesome. ♥
Stefan... um, wasn't their plan to kill Klaus something like "after the sacrifice, when he's vulnerable"?
Katherine is harassing Damon again.
You know, Luka is really growing on me. He's not thrilled with his dad's plans; thinks that maybe things could work out going with Stefan & co.
Aw, Elena/Bonnie/Caroline hanging out. And I love that they can all be completely honest about their lives, because everyone is in the know.
Yes! And now Jenna. And this conversation! Yay! Jenna feels that she deserves the truth. Yes, you do. (tell her the truth, guys)
And again with the poking at Damon. Katherine is very... focused on him since she got out of the tomb. It's weird.
Salvatore brothers working together and hiding things from Katherine! So enjoyable.
Pfft. They would kill Luka right after I started liking him.
Elena had an epiphany! Stop lying to the people you care about! That's a good epiphany, Elena. Let's see some follow-through on it.
Katherine-Damon scene. Another one. They're really piling on the 'everyone loves Stefan the mostest' stuff right now. *tilts head and examines show carefully*
So, blocking thing - in the first Katherine-Damon-Elena-Stefan scene, Elena-Stefan are blocked together and Katherine-Damon are blocked together. In the last scene, Damon is blocked with Elena and Stefan is blocked with Katherine.
Yay! Bonnie's powers are back again (I'm sad that Dr. Martin is dead, though. Track record, show. Track record).
Katherine is bugging Damon. Again. This time in lingerie. Ha! That scene was great. She's all turned on by what a jerk he was (giving her own back to her) and he's all... no.
Hmm. I wonder if she's attracted to him now because he's 'hard to get'. He was so easy for her the first time around. No challenge. Now, it's a challenge.
you can't play on broken strings
you can't feel anything that your heart don't want to feel
it's the last chance to feel again
I'm so excited that Matt knows the truth, y'all! So excited!
I love that this show has a memory - the second that Matt realizes that vampires are real, he remembers what his sister said (in the Pilot, y'all) and freaks out.
And surprise!Isobel. Oh, awesome.
This episode was everything I might want, all bundled up in puppies and love (...okay, blood and angst). Except Luka and Dr. Martin dying. I was kinda getting into them. Aw, well.
Matt knows the truth! People are considering telling Jenna the truth! Damon and Katherine are hilarious! Bonnie's powers are back! There was a girls' night out! ♥
A whole month for another episode? Man, say it ain't so.

Date: 2011-02-25 04:09 am (UTC)Now Damon has his own agenda and is a scary predator all on his own - and he GETS where she is coming from and doesn't have hangups about stabbing people to make a point.
THEY ARE PLAYFULLY SWATTING AT EACH OTHER.
I think that Alaric gets SO many cookies because he treats Elena like an equal - unlike Isobel and John, Alaric respects her status and her decisions - which reinforces his place in the pack. People LISTEN to each other and don't try to take away power for their own ends.
:)

Date: 2011-02-25 04:24 am (UTC)Alaric was A+ stellar. I really need to make myself an Alaric icon.

Date: 2011-02-25 04:33 am (UTC)And although she knows where Damon's loyalties are, she cannot predict his moves AS easily as she used to. He has been catching on to what she is up to and doing it FAST.
I worry that they will kill Alaric off. :(

Date: 2011-02-25 04:48 am (UTC)Yes. Damon is interesting now. Interesting and kinda dangerous.
I worry that they will kill Alaric off. :(
They better not! I would be quite miffed.

Date: 2011-02-25 04:52 am (UTC)The only thing is, Damon is DANGEROUS now, which she was not expecting.
*amused*
If you think about their first meeting, she went in and nuzzled him, knocked him over, and thought she had the better of him. Now she leans in, he waits, and then BITES (or stabs) and she has to take a moment to say 'wait, what IS this?'
I would be miffed too. And it isn't as though the writers NEED to isolate Damon or give Jenna tragedy. The pack needs somebody who is in the position Alaric is - and who will step up when need be.

Date: 2011-02-25 04:28 am (UTC)umm. OT3 yay and Luka never stood up to his dad and therefore never lived up to his potential. And Dr. Martin might have been neat to have around for a while as a villain, but after what he did to Bonnie, he had to die.
Oh and good catch about Stefan at the beginning. That's exactly what it was like.
And my comment was really pretty, too.

Date: 2011-02-25 04:30 am (UTC)I hate when that happens! It's so frustrating.
Luka never stood up to his dad and therefore never lived up to his potential.
Yep. He was on the right mental track but he couldn't break away from his dad and thus doomed.
Oh and good catch about Stefan at the beginning. That's exactly what it was like.
It was weird. He was really reminding me of Stefan from the human blood arc in S1. If they're actually going somewhere with him doing the drops of human blood again, I will be so excited.
