"I don't really pursue younger women. ...it's a joke, Ric. Lighten up." Ha! I'm growing fond of you, Elijah.
Bonnie and Jeremy are turning into a slick, lying duo.
"Stuff that nobody knows. Stuff that you've never told me." And that he never would have if the world hadn't forced his hand.
"I want you to know the truth, but I want you to hear it from me."
I love how Stefan is all... "I can't stand the idea that Elena is learning new things about me that haven't been biased from my point of view. I really need to interject here, since she's finding it out anyway". When I say 'love', I mean that I love it from an 'interesting character' PoV but not from a 'healthy relationship' PoV. Because it's not very indicative of one, that Stefan keeps needing to do this - tell the truth because Elena has found it out anyway.
Oh! This scene! This flashback scene! Damon! Oh, my heart! He's all! And I! And oh! I don't know; I just love him.
"I'm done here, with you. I'm leaving town."
And Stefan's heart is all - no!! He begs for his brother to stay with him. He promises to be better (more pragmatic and careful) for Damon. Newly!vampire Stefan is so needy when it comes to his brother. Magnified emotions, mmmhmmm. He looks so heartbroken that Damon doesn't want to be around him.
"It sounds like you were Damon."
"I was worse."
And Stefan is all "ho-hum" until he hears that using the dagger will kill Damon if he uses it against Elijah and then he's all, fuck that shit. His big brother's in danger. That's all that matters.
Alaric saving Damon was completely fantastic. I loved that. Yay! And then Alaric stabbed Elijah. That was awesome. I literally clapped my hands in delight. Go Alaric! That was a genuine (and delightful) surprise.
"Once you can hurt, you can love."
It's interesting, actually, as this flashback goes on - it really does illustrate that what Stefan went through back then is what Damon is going through now. He's 'feeling it all' and with the pain, he can also feel love again.
"Everything is intensified when you're a vampire. When we hurt, we really hurt. When we love..."
"I am your friend, Damon."
Awwww. And good for you, Alaric, on all counts. You stand up for yourself.
"Elijah's dead." And you can actually see Elena bracing herself to hear the potential news about Damon and then the release of tension when Stefan says that Alaric is the one who killed Elijah.
Oh, shit. 'as long as the dagger stays in place'. Man, there are a lot of loopholes on this thing.
Also, huh, only one Original can be dead at a time. That presents a bit of a problem. They're going to need another dagger.
"Promise me you won't harm anyone that I love - even if they harmed you." She said 'care about' last time, didn't she? And then Elena hard-core stabs herself when he hesitates on making the deal. That girl; she is fierce. And she stabs him!
Is that Elena's first actual kill? I think that it is. And Damon brought her the dagger. Yay for teamwork.
That was even more awesome than the first time (this episode) that someone killed Elijah. I approve.
"Take it. It's yours. And after what you did to Damon, you're going to need it more than me."
I ♥ Alaric.
That flashback! Oh, Damon.
I suspected that Katherine was playing Damon (she's figured out that she can't use his love against him anymore, so she's down to old-fashioned reverse psychology). That was a great entrance, though. And, yay, more Katherine!
And on a different note: ELENA! That is what I'm talking about! This is how fantastic and amazing you can be when you decide to fight instead of giving up. Also, you take charge like nobody's business. It's hot.

Date: 2011-02-18 04:14 am (UTC)Alaric is so ON DAMON'S SIDE that it's amazing, and BADASS. Damon is HIS murdering psychotic vampire BFF and NOBODY gets to hurt him. Yep, Alaric is in an ELENA place with Damon, only he isn't trying to MAKE Damon a better man, he accepts him as is. Whoever that may be.
Stefan is so on a mission when he realizes that DAMON MIGHT BE IN TROUBLE. Brothers, they squabble, they stab each other sometimes, but when it comes down to it 'GET AWAY FROM MY BROTHER.'
*sighs*

Alaric told Damon that he's his friend! That's like... sunshine and puppy dogs. IDK, it's awesome.

Loved that, yes.

That is as I said to somebody the equivalent of 'Happy Valentine's Day' - it's in the open, they can't take it back and Alaric doesn't want to, he's owning this weird fact of his life and he HAS a BFF, so what if Damon happens to be nuts, he IS Alaric's friend and that means they SHARE. And go out hunting together. Or in. It depends on the mood/need. :)
I swear, that part in the books makes me GLEE SO DAMN HARD. EVERY. TIME. And in the show, when you SEE the ways that they ADORE each other - to a scarily obsessive and occasionally mass murdering WAY when need be - I say 'AWWW, SALVATORES.'

Date: 2011-02-18 04:32 am (UTC)I loved her getting into the fighting spirit and taking charge. And she has generally successful plans, really. As long as people don't betray her.
I would have loved to see the threesome come up with that plan, because Elena going, "AND THEN I STAB MYSELF IN FRONT OF ELIJAH," would just have been awesome to watch. But I also liked the surprise of it happening, too.

Yes. And, like Caroline with her mom, Alaric has decided that protecting the Salvatore secret is more important than his relationship with Jenna. Pack.
I wish that Jenna knew the truth, though. And if she can't handle it, Damon could just compel her to forget. Come on, Alaric!
And in the show, when you SEE the ways that they ADORE each other - to a scarily obsessive and occasionally mass murdering WAY when need be - I say 'AWWW, SALVATORES.'
They really, really do. They really do have an unbreakable bond - even when they both tried to break it, it didn't work.

And it's because they have BUILT something here with the Salvatores and each other. They know one another and they aren't going to let anybody down. No matter what.
Yeah, I think that once Jenna got through the sheer WTF, she would be FINE.
They really, really do. They really do have an unbreakable bond - even when they both tried to break it, it didn't work
Definitely, and this season has been reinforcing that - they are on the same page, they have a pack, and this is THEIR TOWN AGAIN. Which means they will FIGHT for it. This is them digging in and staking their claim as it were.

Yes. There's something here, something real and honest. And notice that Alaric insists on honesty in his friendship with Damon, even though it's not a priority in his relationship with Jenna.
Though he really should tell her the TRUTH (as the genie said to Aladdin).

Yes. They aren't going to cut and run. This is their town and their people.

Date: 2011-02-18 06:39 pm (UTC)I think that is particularly telling. Stefan doesn't DEMAND Damon of that very much - he presses for emotional honesty, which is MUCH harder for Damon. Alaric on the other hand, will accept emotional disclosures when they happen and offers his own in return, it isn't one of them TELLING the other how they feel (as Stefan: the self proclaimed EXPERT on HOW YOU FEEL AND WHAT YOU SHOULD DO ABOUT IT is prone to do).
Yes. They aren't going to cut and run. This is their town and their people.
I have a lot of thoughts on the nature of vampires vs. werewolves and how these vampires are showing that they have a home range, the way wolves do, and it's the werewolves who seem to have no interest in truly putting down roots.
*ponders*
And there is also something in there about how vampires and werewolves RAISE their young. The scenes with Lexi and Stefan were interesting as was the fact that she didn't even make a real attempt with Damon. He was out the DOOR and she let him go. *shakes head*

And then I love how his next call was to Alaric, because Alaric's Damon's other half. And how he was talking too fast (in a panic?) and Alaric had to make him slow down. <333333333

Both of those things were just so glorious! Ah, the brother-bit of Stefan is my favorite part, I freely admit that.
