Vampire Diaries: 2x14 - Crying Wolf
Feb. 10th, 2011 09:13 pmAh, so Elena wants to run away from Uncle-Daddy Dearest. Which makes her actions... still immature, but in a different way. Anyway, she has the idea of the magical cabin of 'they totally just invented that shit this season'.
Damon's special friend is still alive, of course. Oh, and vampires can actively compel people to fall in love. I'm not sure that we knew that before (Katherine just compelled Stefan not to change his feelings about her, post-revelation). I'm... uncertain of where Damon is going with this.
Damon and Alaric scene! Alaric sees Damon kissing Andie good-bye and he has a hilarious reaction. He turns away and it... it really is hilarious. Also, Damon is kinda getting into the play-acting a relationship thing. Um. Yeah. Not sure that's going to go anywhere good for anyone. We'll see.
"My new girlfriend. Andie Star - Action News!"
"It's not called Action News."
"Eh, I just like saying it."
Why is Alaric there? Oh, because Damon is sharing information with his allies. The way that he does.
This werewolf guy calling Katherine 'Kathy' seriously cracks my shit up every time that he says it. It's the best thing ever. She's so not a Kathy. But, crap, Tyler once again hands them useful (and dangerous) information. He recognizes 'Kathy' as Elena. STOP HELPING THEM, TYLER. SERIOUSLY.
Once again, this show has people actually talk about the emotional shit that's screwing them up. Inside of just sulking and holding everything inside, Matt tells Caroline that he saw Bonnie at the Grill last night and knows that she was not with Caroline.
Ha, Elena wants to run and leave before John can show up again. Hilarity. Anyway, Elena accidentally reveals her information to Tyler on her phone via texting because Tyler stole Caroline's phone. This show is actually using current technology to fuel the plot rather than rendering it incapable because they don't know how to handle it. Another big plus for this show.
Stefan's moment of "oh, shit, yeah, her parents died" was kinda hilarious, too. And then he goes into comforting mode, but that transition was gold.
I'm going to die of laughter now. She forgot he was a vampire. She literally forgot that he would need an invitation. Stefan and Elena are cracking me the hell up in this episode so far.
Then she fucks with his head before inviting him in. Stefan/Elena: surprisingly amusing in this episode. Apparently, I like them best when they are forgetting key attributes about each other and then screwing with the other person's mind.
And then, presumably, they have sex on the counter. Elena has a fun outfit going on. I like the sleeves and the boots.
It would have been really funny if she hadn't actually been able to invite him in, though. But it can't be all comedy, I suppose.
Tea Party at the Lockwood place! Invited: Jenna, Alaric, Damon, Andie, Carol, other people as necessary, with ELIJAH as the guest of honor. Because we can't have a day in Mystic Falls without an event of some kind. Damon gets himself introduced to Elijah. It's awesome, in a polite way.
Caroline is in a plotline with Bonnie! They're working together! It's very exciting. It's nice to see those two interacting freely again. Also, I think Caroline picked up on Jeremy's attraction to Bonnie.
Elena is standing out at the dock, relieving memories. She wants to have the 'future' talk with Stefan. I'm all ears. Stefan agrees that they could have many conversations and then Elena starts talking about a box that shouldn't be opened. Stefan wants to open the box. Elena wants the box to stay shut. I want them to stop talking in metaphors. JUST SAY THAT YOU AREN'T READY TO DISCUSS THE IDEA OF BECOMING A VAMPIRE, ELENA. Sheesh.
But Elena wants to live in the moment, despite the fact that she's the person who brought up the whole 'future' conversation in the first place. And this relationship has gone back to frustrating me instead of amusing me. Elena, go find something else to tease Stefan about. That's a lot more entertaining than your bizarre conversational two-step here.
Damon and Elijah are going off to have a private conversation (... probably not shirtless). John, who was also invited to the tea party (WHY?) taunts Alaric about Damon and Jenna. John makes demands. Alaric just smirks and nods, totally not willing to play John's games.
(yep, not shirtless. Damon does get stabbed in the neck, though, and gets all bloody. This is not as good as shirtless)
Stefan and Elena are planning to have sex in her dead parents' room while he's wearing her extremely dead great-grandfather's shirt, but they interrupt the sex when Stefan discovers that the wall of the closet is hollow. There's a hidden door. This should shock no one who remembers that the Gilberts were legacy vampire hunter-type people. Yep, it's a weapon cache.
Caroline thinks that Bonnie and Jeremy should totally have sex. Also, the three of them are doing some kind of spell on Luka in order to find out answers from him. But Caroline pushing B/J is more interesting to me at this particular moment.
Alaric and Damon confab after the tea party. It's fantastic.
"She's got spunk," Damon says about Andie when Alaric asks him (hmm - is that what he said about Elena in 1x02. I think it is). Alaric very nicely asks Damon not to kill her. Seriously, their friendship. I love it.
But Alaric gets stabbed before he can leave! Werewolves attack! DRAMA! Damon gets vervain'd! He struggles but eventually goes down! Both of them are on the floor! Alaric is dismissed as dead (yay! He can mount a rescue!), while Jules and a heap of werewolves stride in.
Over at the cabin, the mood is totally broken. Elena found journals, y'all. And, on this show, journals are sacred. Stefan, realizing the inherent power of journals, knows that it falls to him to do practical things like fetch firewood now that Elena has been trapped. All hail the power of journaling.
Holy shit, that collar that Damon's been put in looks nasty. I think it might have wooden spikes in it. Yeah. And he's being tortured for information. It's very bloody.
Bonnie, Jeremy, and Caroline all find out that Elijah's big plan is to kill Klaus when he's vulnerable. Which will be after the sacrifice. Which means, yes, Elena bargained her life away for the sake of her loved ones. I wonder if she was thinking about that when she was doing the conversation two-step with Stefan earlier. Our three musketeers are like... fuck that shit. They are firmly on Team No Dead Elena.
(oh, and in keeping of the family theme, the reason that the Martins are working for Elijah is because Klaus has their sister - though I wonder, given the way the show has gone so far, if she's not as much of as innocent victim as they think she is)
Stefan just tosses the firewood on a heap on the porch when he brings it there. Ha. That's terrible. Is it so hard to stack it? You have super-strength and super-speed.
Things that I find kind of hilarious: Brady and Tyler are sent to take care of Stefan. THE ENTIRE REST OF THE WOLF PACK is assigned to Damon. Tyler is set over to watch Stefan while Brady goes to... grab Elena, I would guess.
Who stabs him with a kitchen knife. Because she's awesome. She locks herself inside the cabin. He's going to heal quickly but... hey! Elena has a secret room of weapons! She holds Brady off until Stefan arrives and rips out his heart (I think). So, Tyler has also decided to be Team No Dead Elena? I approve.
Tyler apologize to Elena and she hugs him and it's all very "awwww". Elena may suck at being Team No Dead Elena, but she's awesome at Team Forgiveness.
Elijah arrives at the Salvatore place, flashes the moonstone, and kills all the werewolves except Jules (and possibly the one who called Katherine 'Kathy' and came up with the collar torture). Damon is impressed and possibly a bit turned on. It's the third time that Elijah has saved his life (yeah - in 2x10, 2x13, and now in 2x14. It's true).
Bonnie? Sharing information with Damon about the Elijah-Elena stuff. LIKE AN ALLY.
Alaric finally revives.
Stefan has gotten the news from Damon. It's not a surprise to Elena, which is a big surprise to Stefan (yep, Elena is still not on Team No Dead Elena. *sigh). Stefan is kinda going 'wtf' that she was playing at talking about the future with him when she was planning on trotting off to her death all along. Stefan is totally pissed off that Elena isn't playing on his team (of No Dead Elena. I KNOW, RIGHT? It annoys me, too, Stefan!).
"How is that any different from when you say that you would die to keep me safe?"
"Because I've already lived! A hundred and sixty-two years, I have lived, and you've barely begun. Now you want to let yourself get killed? That's not heroic. That's tragic."
I know, right? This is what Damon and I have been telling her since 2x10!
AND THEN BONNIE AND JEREMY KISS!
♥
Awesome. Bonnie is totally impressed by Jeremy's kissing skills (well, he had practice with both Vicki and Anna, both of whom were experienced in that department). Yay! I'm so rooting for this relationship. I hope that the show doesn't screw it up.
caught in the middle of this dysfunction, we hear as Carol is alone in the Lockwood place. There's a flower arrangement and a card labeled 'mom'.
are you gonna be like your father was and his father was? Do you have to carry what they've handed down?
Wow, this song is perfect for Tyler. Good job. Tyler has gone to the Grill to talk to Matt about the Caroline stuff.
"I kinda fell for her. I don't know how anyone wouldn't, because she's pretty incredible." Awwww. "But she loves you. And she needs you. And, to be honest, she deserves someone like you."
Hmm. Where is Tyler going?
You're gonna reverse the course of generations. This is my great hope for him, appropriate song.
This is not your legacy. This is not your destiny. Yesterday does not define you.
He's leaving with Jules. Hmm. She promises 'no more lies'. Has anyone actually ever kept that promise on this show? Tyler is walking away, because he can't live in this town this way.
Hmm.
Good episode. Stefan/Elena was more appealing that it's been since... I have no idea. Ages. They actually dealt with some real shit there, toward the end, and Stefan allowed himself to actually get mad at her.
Everything else was great, too. I'm so glad that people are sharing knowledge so freely among the group (not so much when Tyler tells other people things, though. *sigh*).

Date: 2011-02-11 05:48 am (UTC)MOST OF THE PACK WAS SENT TO DEAL WITH DAMON. *CRACKS UP* Seriously, they KNOW which one is batshit crazy and will kill you for looking at him or his loved ones sideways...or because it's a day that ends in 'y'.
*so so amused*
Damon does appreciae somebody who kills efficiently. Those were LOOKS he gave Elijah. Now, if he knew that Elijah was not on Team Dead Elena they could chat.
Alaric and Damon have a GREAT relationship - and they are so SECURE with each other. Alaric can ask Damon not to kill nice people! Damon motions at him a lot with sharp objects! And taps him with that stake. Alaric looked long suffering. Plus they drink and plot together and when someboy gives Alaric a hard time he is not at all affected. Errand boy for vampires? No, John, that would be YOU, actually.
Bonnie and Damon have activated the phone tree. They are TOTALLY on the same side and are having civil conversations because they believe in DEFENDING THEIR FAMILY.
Of course it's all going to get worse before it gets any better but Team Salvatore is totally prepared to keep Elena alive.
Now if only they could get ELENA into that mode too. WTF.

Date: 2011-02-11 06:32 am (UTC)CW is officially my favorite S/E relationship episode ever. They were like real people with real feelings! Weird, but hilarious and interesting!
MOST OF THE PACK WAS SENT TO DEAL WITH DAMON. *CRACKS UP* Seriously, they KNOW which one is batshit crazy and will kill you for looking at him or his loved ones sideways...or because it's a day that ends in 'y'.
It was brilliant and also amusing.

yes. This revelation has ruined a beautiful
crushfriendship. Aw, well. Damon still has Alaric. And, boy, wow, does he have Alaric. They were amazing together in this episode. Being friends with Damon is so bad for people's morals; it amuses me.
Phone tree for the win!

Date: 2011-02-11 02:44 pm (UTC)Yep, the werewolves may be stupid in a lot of ways but they've realized that Damon Salvatore is not somebody to mess with - well, they haven't QUITE learned that, but they're getting there.
Damon has Alaric LIEK WHOA. Alaric has completely gone over to 'living with predators is not like living with people, and I am okay with that'. He is not bothered by John's posturing because Alaric KNOWS where he stands with Damon and he doesn't need to worry about that.
I mean the scenes where they were sharing information? Damon really DOES share with his allies, because he figures that it might be helpful in the long run. Then they checked in on each other. <3s.

Date: 2011-02-11 03:37 pm (UTC)If they were like this more often, I would like them so much more! Apparently, it's been the writing/story that's been failing them, because I also saw more chemistry out of them than I usually see.
