Memory Lane
Katherine sending Stefan dreams of Damon and Elena together = totally awesome. Great excuse to use that chemistry that Nina and Ian have while furthering Stefan's story but not mucking up Damon and Elena's.

I think I'm going to rewatch that 'Damon/Elena' kiss and stuff (have I somehow become a shipper? When did that happen?).

Damon is now going to be an irritating thorn in Elena's side, much like he's been for Stefan for the past century or so. But, yes, where the Damon-Elena story is right now is not even in the same state as 'adorable kissing and playing pool together', so I'm glad again for Katherine poking at Stefan. Heh.

These Katherine and Stefan scenes are intense. Man. Wow.

Oh, good, Jenna is going to have the Damon conversation with Elena.

Elena telling Jenna to 'be nice' re: Damon. Yes, obviously, Elena's heart is a cold stone when it comes to Damon. Hee.

Mason: "I've heard great things about you."
Damon: "Really? That's weird, because I'm a dick."

Hee.

Woah, that intense Katherine/Stefan (and Damon getting dismissed). Katherine is genuinely in love with Stefan. Huh. (I do think she probably has additional reasons for being in Mystic Falls though)

Damon working his angles of trying to get in Jenna's good graces (and thus ingratiate himself with the family) while trying to further work out the Lockwood stuff. Fun.

"Love. Hate. Such a fine line. I can wait."

"I always pegged you for a lone wolf."
"I'm sure I wasn't half the ladykiller you were."

Hee.

"We came for you. We tried to save you."
"I didn't want to be saved."

Mason wants to move past the vampire/werewolf hatred! I hope he's on the level! This is awesome.

Damon... you just aren't good at making friends.

*sigh*

Katherine/Stefan = so intense! Eeep!

Stefan really let Katherine get to him.

Katherine and Damon's barbed conversations are a lot of fun, too.

Ooo, did Stefan and Elena stage a break-up for Caroline's benefit because they figured out her weird actions had to be related?

They did!

And Katherine really does love Stefan. It's real. Sort of. In the 'she loves him enough to get pissed off and jealous that he's fallen in love with someone who looks just like her and she wants to fuck that up for him' kind of way. But not in a 'wait until the current generation is dead and then reveal yourself to Stefan so that the two of you can be together' way.

Kill or Be Killed
Ah, we find out who Mason killed to trigger the curse.

Oh, weird, from the right angle, Mason kinda looks like Mario Lopez. Huh.

Any death that's Tyler's responsibility, and he becomes a werewolf.

Okay... so what's actually the plan, here, Stefan and Elena? It's not like Katherine is just going to give up, so are you planning on being 'fake broken up' forever?

Hi, Caroline's mom! Where have you been? Your daughter is a vampire now.

"There's one of you. There's two of us."

Yeah. All of Stefan's 'nice one' protests aside, this. He has his brother's back. No matter what.

Jeremy finds out that Tyler might be a werewolf - his interest in Tyler shoots up about 1000%.

And Mason tells Liz that Damon and Stefan are vampires and she's just like... no, not even, not my buddy Damon. Aw.

Damon is concerned about Liz's emotional health. Aw, he really did make a friend (who is possibly going to hate him before the episode is over).

Yep, Damon picked up on the fakeness of the fight.

And, yeah, Liz just saw him react to the vervain (he does have a trump card of "so's your daughter" though).

"He's making threats. He could expose us. We need to put him down."

Brothers Salvatore on the same page. Not a good sign for Mason.

Tyler and Jeremy bonding! This is awesome! Is there fic?

That was fucking awesome, Caroline. Wow.

"You can't kill them. I'm not going to let you."

I notice your plural, Elena.

And Caroline comes through with more awesome. "Hi, mom."

"Relax, guys. Nobody is killing anyone." *turns to Liz* "You're my friend."

*squeaks*

Oh, poor Caroline. Poor Caroline.

Oh, Stefan. Bad call. Even if you take human blood, Katherine will still be stronger. She's older. Bad call.

Oh, it's the one scene of the series that I'd actually seen before now! (with Kris Allen singing "I Need to Know")

You know, Stefan seems to be a more passionate kisser when he has human blood in his system.

Yep, Mason is a bad guy. I wish that the good guys (or close enough) would stop giving the bad guys weapons. Tyler should have listened to his mistrust!

(and so it looks like Katherine compelled that guy to attack Mason)

Plan B
Yes, Elena and Stefan, we've established that you are being morons. Either commit to the fake break-up or give it up! Sheesh.

Paralleling the Elena/Stefan with the Katherine/Mason is... interesting.

Rolling around the bed kissing.

Katherine takes Mason's blood; Elena gives Stefan some of hers.

Promises of continued affection from the vampire.

And an "I love you" sealed with a kiss.

Oh, show, what are you up to? Just being clever?

Elena cuts Jeremy off from helping, so he goes over to Damon to give the info. Oh, Jeremy. What are we going to do with you?

Wow, Stefan, you guys couldn't even keep your fake break-up a secret from Aunt Jenna. That's when you know that you're really sucking at keeping secrets.

Oh, Bonnie. Come on.

Damon-Jeremy-Alaric scene of awesome! Fun!

Mason's reaction to Stefan not being dead was great. "I wasn't expecting to see you here. Or anywhere."

Oh, Bonnie.

'Caroline's a vampire! I can't handle it! ... Oh, hi, Stefan, let's have friendly chit-chat.'

Jeremy. Hee. A+. And, yes. You go ahead and work with Damon.

"That's the beauty of Katherine. She's always up to something."

Heh, he sounds so annoyed.

Seeing the names 'Damon' and 'Bonnie' in close proximity makes Elena nervous.

"He meant that as a question. With a 'please' on the end."
"Absolutely."

I have to say that I'm with Damon on this one. If she feels comfortable doing this to Damon, then she should feel just fine doing it to other people who have done bad things.

Woah, Damon is so cold in that torture scene. *shiver*

Oh, wow, Mason really didn't trust Katherine. He hid the moonstone in a well of vervain-laced water.

Damon's all 'shiny new torture weapon' and Jeremy is... I don't know about Jeremy yet. Creeped out but sticking around.

Caroline and Elena teaming up to save Stefan from the vervain. Awesome.

You know, Bonnie and Caroline, you really should take off Stefan's clothes. They're soaked in vervain. That can't be good for him.

"Why would [Katherine] do that?"
"Because she loves me!"
"Now I get it. You're just stupid." And he laughs.

That Damon-Jeremy scene was intense. Jeremy is getting a schooling in vampire morality.

"Katherine will only rip your heart out. Let me do it for her."

*shiver*

"Bonnie wasn't mean to me once." Aw, I want to cuddle Caroline so hard.

And Caroline, oh, Caroline. Picking her friends over her mother. Oh, that was so hard for her. Oh, Caroline. So many hugs for her.

Oh, Damon and your impulse control issues. You should not have taunted her but you just couldn't help yourself.

Jenna looked a little dead-eyed when she handed the phone to Elena. Compelled or just annoyed?

Eeep. Totally compelled. For days. No wonder she was suddenly more observant than she's ever been before.

So, now Jeremy hates Katherine. Elena breaks it off 'for real' with Stefan. And Damon offers up his own part of the blame in the matter, but Elena doesn't want that.

Eeep. Oh, no! Matt!

Masquerade
Now both the Salvatores are out for Katherine's blood.

Oh, holy shit. Hurting Katherine hurts Elena, what the fuck.

Man, and up until that, it was actually a really good plan.

Wow, this was a really intense episode. Seriously, I can't even think of anything else to say about except... yeah, awesome. Bonnie was fantastic and I'm glad she's found another family member. Caroline was great. Involving Matt made me care about the werewolf plot and having Caroline involved will keep me caring. Jeremy was fab!

And the love-pained foursome of Katherine-Stefan-Elena-Damon was just great. Ah, Damon's pause when Katherine said that Elena was in danger (true, as it turns out, though it may be Katherine's fault) was a thing of beauty.

Have to say that the continued break-up is... hmm. It mostly just makes the Stefan/Elena relationship feel like maybe it isn't strong enough to actually last. But I'll see where they go with it.

Yep, Jeremy has completely fallen in with Damon and Alaric. Which is a bit rebellion, also him wanting to DO stuff (even if he's still mostly a dumb boy at times) so yeah, he totally has two people to look up to. Damon being a role model? *winces* Fortunately Alaric has the same reaction and wants to make sure nobody dies more than they have to. Unless they do. In which case he has fun toys in the trunk of his car.

CAROLINE. I love the growth she has gone through.

Liz Forbes and Damon. I want them to hang out, have coffee and run the town together.
