Torchwood: Children of Earth

First off, I thought it was a really fantastic story. The plot worked and the character stuff worked. I loved the characters introduced for the episode (again, a story by RTD contains several strong and interesting female characters -- Lois, Brigid, Alice, the female officer, and, of course, there's always Gwen, who I *heart*).
It worked very well as an epic story.
Ianto's death would have been more powerful if I hadn't been spoiled for it, but it still worked really well in the story and for Jack's character motivations (especially at the end, when he runs away from Earth).
It can definitely work as an end to the Torchwood story as a whole -- Gwen's the only person left standing. It was always the fruit of a poisoned vine, so perhaps that's for the best.
I caught several bits of foreshadowing to Ianto's death -- in the very beginning, they reference Jack's immorality and Ianto's mortality.
So, powerful story; really well written. Great stuff. I would have preferred being unspoiled, but it was still really worth watching.
