...but I have see (in passing) meta that attempts to make the argument that they're characters that are handled in a sexist way (this only irritates me when the people in question act as though it's a given that this is so, rather than their interpretation of the text.
My thoughts exactly. I can definitely appreciate the ones that are truly addressing characterization problems (even myself as a Lois fan has been irritated, disappointed and angered at certain times by her portrayal) but more often that not, those claims of "Sexist! Misogynistic!" simply come across to me as nothing more than just thinly-veiled attempts to push their own personal agenda. And it sickens me when these supposed supporters for feminism and empowered female characters themselves, resort to bashing with their own sexist remarks, which the hate would usually spill onto the actresses themselves.
