Sorry for the radio silence.
As previously mentioned, I got around to watching the two most recent Harry Potter films and then felt a deep urge to immerse myself in Harry/Draco fic (of which is there a whole freaking lot, I tell you). HP is kinda an odd-out fandom for me -- it's the only fandom where I ship enemies, rather than friends. Though I flirt with thinking that Harry and Hermione would be adorable together (I liked R/Hr up until she attacked him with birds and then that ship was dead for me), I really only read H/D.
So, that's what I've been doing the past week or so. Also, I just finished wrapping up all my gifts and sent out holiday cards (New Year's cards, really) to a handful of people -- out-of-town family members and just a couple of fannish people. This great accomplishment means that I may actually request addresses next year so that I can send more people cards, as it was quite nice to do that.
I saw The Golden Compass and Nicole Kidman was delightfully slinky and I adored her and the rather interesting world that she, Lyra, and the rest all inhabited. I just saw Enchanted today and thought it was beautiful, funny, and quite touching (with more lovely familiar faces than just my beloved James Marsden... who I've decided is definitely an actor that I will go see a movie for. He's brilliant at living inside the skin of his characters). It explored fairy tales and 'true love' and real love and was... thought-provoking as well. I've been thinking, ever since I got home. I may post about the subject at some point in the future.
I'm rather immensely excited about the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special, S2 of Torchwood, and S4 of Doctor Who. I'm spoiled enough to wish that they could all be airing immediately.

Date: 2007-12-23 10:00 pm (UTC)I read the His Dark Materials trilogy and am sort of looking forward to the first film. I've heard/read that some things are vastly different from the book to the movie (typical of Hollyweird, of course).
I adored Enchanted and have been meaning to see it again. It's quite the best Disney film in some time, IMHO. :)
Btw, I once was deidrecorwyn, and we were mutual friends. I am now

Date: 2007-12-25 07:45 pm (UTC)There was a brief period of time when I read every HP fic that I could get my hands on, regardless of the pairing, but then I settled into reading H/D and never really looked back. But, canon-wise, I'd have the best hope for everyone's future actual happiness if it'd been Harry/Hermione, rather than the way it turned out.
His Dark Materials was quite enjoyable for someone who hasn't read the books, but I don't know how much anyone familiar with book-canon will like it.

Such a sweet movie, yeah. And I loved Disney affectionately mocking their own older format with regards to movies.
