Please, spoiled people, please tell me that Larrin (spelling?) does not reappear. I disliked her more than I disliked Lucius.

Was I supposed to feel bad for her when she lost the people that she was perfectly willing to sacrifice earlier? Oh, she kidnapped John because she thought he might say 'no' if she asked. And the beating-up was, what... because she had to soften him up before asking?

Great Sheppard episode, though! His reactions were spot-on and I completely adored him. Larrin, though, really rubbed me the wrong way. It's like she's supposed to be SGA's Vala, but with all the likable traits missing (her real backstory is basically Vala's fake backstory from PU, yes?). I was disappointed that the Wraith didn't kill her, which saddens me. I don't like disliking the female characters. I just... felt like she was going about her goals in the stupidest ways possible, the ways least likely to actually get her what she wanted.

Loved Sheppard with the Wraith -- it really shows how he's grown as a person, that he's extending the same basic consideration to a Wraith that he would to any other enemy combatant. He learned something from "Common Ground".

I hope she doesn't, although they sure do seem to be setting up for a reappearance, if not a recurring part. I don't know. I mean, I did like the dynamic she had with Sheppard, mostly, but she was morally icky. I seriously don't care if she was doing it all for her people - she was willing to let two of them die! And then there was something in the beginning about her spacing or otherwise disappearing someone who'd displeased her? Ick. Poor woman's Vala, indeed. (And also, while the actress isn't bad, she's definitely no Claudia Black. Damnit.)

I loved loved loved the John Sheppardness of this episode, though. John was so freaking competent, it was awesome. The only thing that would've made it better is if he'd actually lied to her about leaving the controls in auxiliary control open, and so when she got there she couldn't use them. That would've been awesome.

Exactly! She's doing it for her people but not, apparently, any particular ones or for all of them as a whole. She's doing it for the ones that survive her pragmatism and wrath. She's doing it for whichever of her people are still alive after she irradiates them.

Yeah, that also left a bad taste in my mouth (as did her outfit -- she's the only woman of her people that we see and she's got her shoulders bared and a scooped top while the men are completely covered).

Definitely. I find it interesting that the person who actually has the 'helping my people' backstory that Vala was faking in PU is the person that I find more morally-reprehensible. Vala always seemed to do her best not to actually hurt or kill anyone.

OK, here's the thing. Practically every other person on LJ who liked Travelers seems to think that Larrin is a female John Sheppard. (http://cesperanza.livejournal.com/181575.html#cutid1) And I'm left sitting here going, what the hell are you people smoking, anyway? OK, I suppose in certain tendencies she was vaguely similar. I guess. But argh. I Don't Get It.

I must not be seeing the same John Sheppard that they do. John is ruthless and reckless, yeah, but with his own life. Not the lives of the people under his command. If John acted like Larrin, I wouldn't like him, either.

That's UNPOSSIBLE. No one is more loathsome than Lucias! Not even Larrin can compare to Rapist Guy. And I hated Larrin.
