I'm thinking of getting a tattoo of a butterfly on my left shoulder for my birthday, which is still a few months away.

Seriously. Tattoos are fun. Addictive as fuck, but fun.

I have two. A Chinese symbol meaning energy/spirit in the small of my back; and this little purple butterfly with tribal-y stuff on either side of it, right between my shoulders.

And I still want more.

And one of these days, I'll get around to taking pictures of them, I swear.

I've been thinking about it for a while but I still have a ton of questions.

Like, how long do you have to wait afterwards until you can give blood? I've been doing that pretty consistently since my 17th birthday and I'd like to continue.

I think you have to wait a year.

That's what the blood bank people told me when I said I couldn't give blood because I had a tattoo, I'm pretty sure.

That sounds reasonable. Obviously, I should get the tattoo right after I've given blood, so that's it's a shorter wait.

Fun with Body Art

In honor of my 18th birthday, I got a tattoo of a hummingbird on my shoulder. That was 10 years ago now, and I still love it.

My only regret is that I cannot see it on regular basis. If I had it to do all over again, I would get it somewhere where I didn't have to use mirrors everytime I wanted to look at it.

I am actually considering another (or maybe two). I know what I want and where I want it (them), I just can't find just the right picture of it.
