I really liked Fallout. You have no idea how big my grin was when Jimmy snapped those pictures under Lex's desk. Work those... totally wrong assumptions, kid. Oh, Jimmy. I love you, man.

And Clark! Yay! I loved his decision here -- he's been leading up to it all season so far and now he's finally made the choice. And he made it very responsibly, to decide to take care of the Phantoms before starting his training. And he was perfect with the poor kid at the end (I was so happy that he didn't die).

Wasn't thrilled with Raya -- she was kinda distant. But that's appropriate enough. I was uncertain, at the end, if they were going to kill her off or have her healed by the yellow sun.

Lex and Lana are pretty fucked up, but now they both know it, which could go very well (unlikely) or very badly (far more likely). Either way, I found them very interesting. I really like Lana now. Have I mentioned that?

Also interesting was the very awkward meet-up between Lex/Lana and Clark. Once Lex makes up his mind... he really makes up his mind.

Once we got to the mid-way point, I found myself hoping that we wouldn't get a Lois or Oliver cameo, so as not to waste the episodes that we have with them on stuff that they aren't at all involved in, but I was very glad to see them both in the previews for next week.

Overall, good.

Now, No Exit had some structural issues. Ellen felt... wildly out of character. Last week, she got some pretty deep secrets out of the brothers Winchester, but all this time, she's been hiding this and not even showing a sign of that kind of anger? Wasn't thrilled with that. And I suppose it could be all Mama Bear anger but... eh. If she feels that the Winchesters aren't trustworthy, then I think poorly of her for soliciting their trust. Makes her look bad.

Also not thrilled with Sam not being research boy. That's, like, his thing. If Ash is doing that now, is Sam just going to have the fucked up visions? He can have more than one thing. I think that they should have made Ash just about finding the demon -- they shouldn't have him doing the Winchesters' research.

I found myself liking Jo much better with her hair flattened and messy, and a little dirt on her face. Strikes me as too much of a kid for hunting though -- the way she acted towards Dean at the end made that seem all that much clearer. How old is she supposed to be, anyway? My roommate guesses sixteen, but I'm going with eighteen-nineteen. Though, really, definitely acting much more like fifteen or sixteen there.

Especially with the bratty thing she pulled with the bed. Hey, if you aren't going to use the bed, let someone else take it. That was actually pretty annoying.

Did like her down in the sewer, though. She was good, with the "here to rescue you" bit. That was cute. But then, at the end, I didn't like her so much anymore. She got herself captured, the guys saved her, but their dad may have gotten her dad killed, so whatever the guys themselves have done for her is worth shit. I hate it when people punish someone's children for what the parent did.

Also, up until Jo told Dean what Ellen had said, I was so pulling for a "John's your daddy" revelation from Ellen. I'm kinda sad that that's probably off the menu.

There have definitely been better episodes, but I still enjoyed it, for the most part. Though, really, what was up with Dean? Lying to Ellen when he knows that she'll find out eventually, letting the newbie go off alone after saying that she wasn't leaving his sight, opening up to Jo about his dad.

Kinda weird, really.

Hmm.

Oh, yeah. Jo and the bed thing? Oh, she was watching him sleep face down on a recliner all night and didn't once think that maybe it might be slightly uncomfortable? That's sort of...casually cruel. His poor back. She's impractical like a teenager, that's for sure.

Indeed. She just felt exceedingly young. Fifth-season Dawn young, and Dawn was fourteen. In fourteen, I find it far easier to excuse that kind of behavior, because there's a greater chance that the person will grow out of it.
