November is my birthday month and I wanted to do something to honor my renewed passion for the female characters that I love/loved/have grown to love. So, on each day in November, I plan to post about one female character I love or have loved, with my reasons. I'll be working on these throughout the rest of this current month, so that it'll be ready to roll in November. It's not at all a full list of the characters that I love, but it covers a fairly wide range of types, I think.

1. Buffy (BtVS)
2. Vala (Stargate: SG-1)
3. Arwen (The Lord of the Rings)
4. Tara (BtVS)
5. Francesca (due South)
6. Boomer (Battlestar Galactica)
7. Fred (Angel)
8. Sam Carter (Stargate: SG-1)
9. Dax (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine)
10. River (Firefly)
11. Chloe Sullivan (Smallville)
12. Teyla (Stargate: Atlantis)
13. Zoe (Firefly)
14. Darla (Angel)
15. Lois Lane (Smallville)
16. Willow (BtVS)
17. Kira (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine)
18. Megan (Numb3rs)
19. Inara (Firefly)
20. Six (Battlestar Galactica)
21. Janet Fraiser (Stargate: SG-1)
22. Jenny Calender (BtVS)
23. Joey Potter (Dawson's Creek)
24. Anya/Anyanka (BtVS)
25. Kaylee (Firefly)
26. Rose Tyler (Doctor Who)
27. Lana Lang (Smallville)
28. Chantarelle/Lily/Anne (BtVS/Angel)
29. Kara Thrace (Battlestar Galactica)
30. Dawn Summers (BtVS)

*coughs*

*shuffles feet*

Since I started making a vid about her about half a month ago. It attacked me! She makes sense now! Even the horrible mind-wipe of Tara makes sense in Willow's mind. I understand her. And, thus, love.

I'm still a little surprised about it myself.

This is too, too funny! Can't wait for this post, just to read an explanation of your mental processes.

Tout comprendre c'est tout pardonner, perhaps, but understanding Willow really makes you love her? Odd. There's many characters whose motivations I think I understand fully, and while often it helps to excuse things I would otherwise have disliked, it wouldn't necessarily push them into positive territory.

It really is a bit of turn-around.

Understanding her gave me a fair chance at loving her. Once I understood her, the ways in which she is actually is fairly cute and, well, lovable, started to shine through. I get what Tara and Oz and Kennedy saw in her, now, I think, rather than just wondering why they liked her so quickly and so much.

I hope that you enjoy the posts! I'm just so full of love at the moment that I really want to share it with the world... or at least the small portion of the world that is my flist.

I think this is such a fantastic idea that I'd like to do something similar, although I doubt I could limit myself to female characters. I've been meaning to write up bios for the characters in my various fandoms, and yet most of them have bios all over the web. Your idea is giving me an idea for a different slant to it. Thanks!

Glad you like the idea. And I really love your icon. Kaylee is so fabulous in that scene -- she really made space travel feel real with her sheer delight in eating a fresh berry.

Yay Buffy, Zoe, WIllow, Kaylee and Kara! I love them. You should watch Grey's Anatomy, there are a lot of great female characters on there. My personal favorite being Cristina. Also Joan of Arcadia and Wonderfalls have some great female characters.

I've heard good things about GA, but I'm hesitant to start watching any new shows. I have no time as it is!

Oh! And I really need to get JoA on dvd -- I only ever had the chance to watch a few episodes while it was airing.
