butterfly: (Dean -- Supernatural)
[personal profile] butterfly

I am continuing to just have so much fun with Thursday night television! I adored Arrow. Lois was so! Eee! Lois-y. Her interaction with Oliver (and totally not clicking that he was the Green Arrow) was so perfect. I'm vastly amused that Lois and Clark were united in their strong dislike of Oliver's methods (though Lois didn't know that). And I loved Oliver giving us some set-up for Superman in the future. And Lana continues to be absolutely kick-ass. I simply adore her now.

So much fun!

First, Sam was stealing my heart for the first half of Children, but then Dean totally ripped it out of Sam's hands. "Things that are dead should stay dead." Oh, Dean.

You know, last night was the first night I really saw Lois be Lois. I mean, I've seen glimmerings of it before, but this really hit me for some reason. And yet, I still see people that I otherwise respect wishing that Chloe could be Lois. I love Chloe, and I thought she was wonderful last night, but she wasn't Lois, and can't be.

I'm vastly amused that Lois and Clark were united in their strong dislike of Oliver's methods (though Lois didn't know that).

*snicker* That was great, wasn't it? Even though Clark understands better now, he still disapproves of Oliver's "ends justify the means" tactics, which is just so Superman-y, it's awesome.

And I loved Oliver giving us some set-up for Superman in the future.

I squealed when that happened. Literally. See, I absolutely adore the Superman mythos, and any push in that direction Clark gets I'm just all over. It doesn't hurt any that Oliver was being all hot and intense while doing it. Yum.

And Lana continues to be absolutely kick-ass. I simply adore her now.

If someone had told me 'round about 2nd season that come the 6th season I would absolutely adore Lana, I would've suggested they possibly needed therapy. But I do. I love her so much more with Lex than Clark, I can't tell you. I think she and Lex may well be the beginnings of a great (morally dubious) team.

First, Sam was stealing my heart for the first half of Children, but then Dean totally ripped it out of Sam's hands. "Things that are dead should stay dead." Oh, Dean.

*sob* That was my main reaction throughout: "Oh, Sam." "Oh, Dean."

She really couldn't. Durance was just pitch-perfect as Lois last night -- tenacious and impossible to drag from her story, fierce in her self-confidence, and (as pre-crisis/pre-knowing Lois) causing the men in her life to be baffled as to how she can have such different feelings for the real and undercover versions of themselves.

*snicker* That was great, wasn't it? Even though Clark understands better now, he still disapproves of Oliver's "ends justify the means" tactics, which is just so Superman-y, it's awesome.

He was incredibly Superman-y. Clark is never going to be an 'ends justify the means' kinda guy -- it's part of what makes Superman Superman. It was lovely to see.

I squealed when that happened. Literally. See, I absolutely adore the Superman mythos, and any push in that direction Clark gets I'm just all over. It doesn't hurt any that Oliver was being all hot and intense while doing it. Yum.

It was lovely. I like that it's something that Clark really has already been doing (like cleaning up Metropolis), but that this maybe will help him realize that he can't do what needs to be done all at night.

She's been amazing with Lex and a joy to watch. And (like Clark with Lois), she matches his morality -- we might need the alien weapon to defend us against more aliens and when you love someone, you should be willing to do whatever it takes to defend them.

*sob* That was my main reaction throughout: "Oh, Sam." "Oh, Dean."

Supernatural has just been so good this year, character-wise.

Oh my goodness yes. I loved Smallville to tiny little bits. The only complaints I had was with the directing, at times — there were a few reaction shots that were held just a little too long. But the characters? Damn. There was so much tremendous character work in this episode, I'm bringing it together in little pieces. Lana's scene in the elevator made my jaw drop. And I have so much love for Lois after last night, it's unreal. And yes, absolutely, to Lois and Clark having the same instinctual world view. That's Important, in terms of this show and the different characters' moral codes, you know?

That’s it, Clark and Lois have the same world view which is different from Oliver and Chloe’s. Clark and Lois struggle with the grey areas while ultimately wanting to push their actions to the white side of things while Chloe and Oliver embrace the grey area. All the more reason to not ship Chlark (and this articulates for me just exactly why I’ve felt that Chloe has never really understood Clark and why Clark never felt anything more than “friends” towards Chloe) but to ship Clois.

Indeed. And while I do like the Chloe's and Oliver's of the world, it doesn't generally work so well when they get into romances with the Clark's and Lois's.

All the more reason to not ship Chlark (and this articulates for me just exactly why I’ve felt that Chloe has never really understood Clark and why Clark never felt anything more than “friends” towards Chloe) but to ship Clois.

There is a side of Clark that Chloe doesn't share and vice versa. They really aren't well-matched.

Dude, yes. What was up with that? Did they run slightly short and need to make up a few seconds?

But the characters? Damn. There was so much tremendous character work in this episode, I'm bringing it together in little pieces.

The character work was so impressive. This year feels very tight so far, in regards to the characters.

Lana's scene in the elevator made my jaw drop.

That she kept up her sweetness throughout the entire scene just killed me. I mean, wow, that woman really could make a hell of a wife for Lex, with that loyalty and willingness to get dirty for the things that she really wants (which I think we saw in S1 or 2, when she called in something against the Beanery because it was taking all of the Talon's business and mentioned that she kinda enjoyed it).

And I have so much love for Lois after last night, it's unreal.

Lois was so amazing last night. And they really seem to be doing a retread of what happened between Lois and Bruce/Batman in an earlier version, where she liked the man but not what he was willing to do in his undercover work. And it's good to have that happen on Smallville because it points out that Lois wouldn't disapprove of Clark's methods. She seeks out the Green Arrow's identity because, like Clark, flat-out stealing is still wrong.

And yes, absolutely, to Lois and Clark having the same instinctual world view. That's Important, in terms of this show and the different characters' moral codes, you know?

Very important and very lovely to see. They are going to be so well-matched. They aren't quite there yet, but they are getting so close now.

I totally dug last night's Smallville episode! It was one of my favorite. We get to see more Lois being who she's meant to be and everything! I loved it! And I love Oliver. :)

I just finished watching it, and ouch, my heart. They just kept ripping it out this season!

They really do. They figured out how to really tear out the heart in Devil's Trap and they're just doing it consistently now.

Let us not forget when Oliver said that line about living under the same house and hiding their feelings with sarcasam.

That was gold. Especially their reactions.

Hee. 'Beautiful anvils of destiny' is such an appropriate thing to say about it all.

And CSPwDT was just amazing. Sam! Dean!

Doesn’t it make you feel for Dean? This is the second time he’s lived on at the expense of someone else. And while he doesn’t remember the reaper telling him that spirits that cling on past their time go on to become troubled souls, that was ringing in my head as I watched Dean struggle with the weight of the situation.

God, it really does. Oh, poor Dean. He really doesn't see himself as important enough to warrant all this fuss, either. He doesn't see that any father should be willing to make the choice that John did, that that's part of what a parent does.

*pets Dean*

See, that's what I find interesting. And even Clark starts to question his morals with his "it's not as clear as it used to be". Lois is the only one at the end of the episode that isn'r re-evaluating her morals/ideas/

Honestly, I didn't see Clark are questioning his morals at the end of the episode, just acknowledging that it isn't all black and white. He still makes it very clear that he doesn't believe that the ends justify the means. And Lois may not be re-evaluating her view of the Green Arrow (and why should she, as she hasn't received the intel that Clark did?), but she is starting to define her views.

I just don't think that Clark and Chloe would work out for the same reasons that I don't think Oliver and Lois can work out. It's nothing against Chloe -- I like her. I just don't (and have never) thought that she and Clark are suited.

You're right. I think I probably should have worded that better about Clark. I don't think he was questioning his morals, but was becoming aware that everything isn't black and white.

Does Lois know about GA donating to charities, though? Good point.
