Of course, it was Moz. That explains everything. That was the exact right kind of surprise - the kind that makes complete sense when thought about properly.

This episode, I think, was very good. It was tight and suspenseful. We got to see both Neal and Peter show off their expertise and it set up a cat-and-mouse game for S3, something that will be more enjoyable than the mysteries of S1 & 2 because it's so tied into the characters. Seeing Neal con, well, everyone was delightful.

Matt Bomer's Neal is my #1 reason for adoring this show. There are lots of others, most of which were showcased in this episode (No June, but we got some awesome Cindy action - nice job on the con!), but Matt Bomer makes Neal so charming and likable even when he's being, well, a crook.

The Neal-Sara scene confirmed my last season feelings about them - Neal is attracted to her, but not attached. She, on the other hand, seems both attracted and attached to him. At least she's remaining aware of how good he is at the con.

This episode did a great job of reminding me that Mozzie has even fewer scruples than Neal.

Right now, this episode is right up there with "Point Blank" as one of my favorites.

ETA: And I love that we have, finally, the Mozzie-Peter tug-of-war over Neal that's been coming from the very beginning. Peter is everything appealing about the 'honest' life and Mozzie is everything appealing about the con (Kate wasn't either of those - she seemed fine with either the con or honesty, as long as Neal was honest with her). And Neal is strongly drawn to both sides - he has loyalty and affection for both.

I also find the Jones-Neal relationship intriguing because Jones does seem to find a lot of delight in Neal and they work well together, but Jones isn't in a position of power over Neal in the way that Peter is. And now, after Peter set Jones to tail Neal, Neal ending up saving his life. That tends to matter.

Elizabeth was doing a good job of arguing both sides to Peter and Neal - she defends Neal to Peter, but she also remains cautious around Neal.

Diana! I'm so glad that they brought her back.

I love how well they've set up season 3 here. I feel like there's real tension in Neal being torn both ways and he's going to have to make a really hard decision at some point about what he wants to be.

Yeah, for a show with some iffy plot choices, this was a really great episode, and a conflict that actually makes sense and is about who the characters are.
