1. and they won't believe you when you write home about it by
raphaela667. "Hikaru Sulu does not gossip. He is just present when other people say things about people who are not present, and then he sometimes repeats it to more people who might be interested." Great outsider PoV of K/S.
2. A Piece of the Game by
deepsix. K/S dubcon breathplay. Wherein Spock notices Kirk's tendency to invite other people to hurt him and thinks that sort of thing is done better in a more controlled environment.
3. Three People Captain Kirk Did Not Sleep With (and one he did) by
general_public. In which friends shouldn't sleep with friends, it's funny when Uhura turns him down, Chekov is Too Young, and then there's the person who changes everything.
4. Future Bliss and Out of Time by
kagedtiger. Sequels to the previously recced Past Sorrows, Present Joy. In the first, Spock suffers from the severing of his bond with T'Pring. In the second, Spock's pon farr catches up to him. K/S.
5. Heat Transfer by
deepsix. This story uses the classic TOS slash prompt 'too cold, only one blanket' and uses it for the new versions of Kirk and Spock.
6. Pressing the Point by
jedibuttercup. Pike-related gen. Sequel to The Press of Duty. Pike and Kirk have a talk, after the battle has been won, but before they go home to Starfleet.
7. The Four Times Spock Said Yes to Jim Kirk and the One Time He Said No by
snowlight. There's something Spock won't agree to do. K/S.
8. Need by
azelma. K/S. Kirk and Spock hide from a party and play chess, and Kirk tries to figure out what it is he's missing.
9. Castaway by
ykoriana. Spock Prime feels his losses, but finds his anchor again.
10. 4 Things Nero Changed and 1 Thing He Didn't by
kayim. Short but powerful.
11. A Level Course Straight and True by
brighteyed_jill. K/S. Spock can't sleep. He runs into a similarly afflicted Kirk.
12. Something he was trying to tell me
mytsie. K/S. Kirk visits Spock Prime and comes back with everything, and while he and Spock are not who they were once, they are still something.
13. Back in 2256 by
rocknload. Gen. Basically, it does what it says on the tin -- it's a series of character vignettes set in 2256, two years before the main action of the movie.
Complete side note: I just saw the movie "Inherit the Wind" and it's very well done. It's a fictionalized account of the Scopes Monkey trial and was filmed in 1960. Gene Kelly does an excellent job (and probably gets the best lines) as a cynical reporter (and the first Darrin (Dick York) plays the schoolteacher who taught evolution, even when it was against the law).
