Mar. 25th, 2002 09:58 amOkay, I'm writing the Buffy stuff for my site and I was just wondering
Welcome to the Hellmouth:
teaser:
First, we get a quick montage of a cemetary, then weapons and books, and finally Buffy.
We start the actual show off with a common and overriding theme: Things are not as they seem and even the most harmless looking person/creature can be deadly.
Open on the outside of Sunnydale High School. Typical 'creepy' music is played as we switch to an interior view. Skim past the library, then a biology classroom filled with skeletons. We move toward a window as a hand breaks through it. Switch full on view of a young man in a black leather jacket and a young blonde girl who looks anxious, as they start to climb though the window.
The first lines are uttered by the blonde: "Are you sure this is a good idea?" She's reassured by the young man and they enter the school.
Our first lit view of the couple shows us a young man, wearing a yellow shirt. The girl that he's pulling behind him is in black and white clothing. He's telling her about the view from the gym, while she glances around to see if they're alone.
Distracted by a noise, the girl whips her head around, asking for reassurance that they're alone. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I'm sure."
"Okay."
She turns, her face now dominated by ridges, sharp teeth, and yellow eyes. Burying her face in the man's throat, they fall to the floor, out of shot, and we cut to the theme.
Welcome, Darla. Beautiful entrance.
This scene contains the essence of what Joss Whedon set out to accomplish with Buffy the Vampire Slayer: To turn traditional horror on its head and to look at everything in a new light.
In short, it is a perfect teaser for the first episode of Buffy.
