Television: Smallville and Supernatural

While Oliver may be further along than Clark in 'creating a false identity', he's definitely not ahead in 'maintaining healthy relationships while not his superhero persona'. Which fits, as Oliver has not only been the Green Arrow but has also been standing in for the Batman, who never manages the 'healthy' part of relationships, no matter what persona he's in currently.

Which is to say -- saving the world is good and important. Trying to duck out of telling your girlfriend that you're going to jet off and abandon her is the mark of someone who is a bit of an asshole. What was he planning on doing? Texting her the breakup? Or was he going to let Clark try to explain it to her? Or was he so caught up in the news about new global plans for 33.1 that he didn't think at all? If you care about someone, you think about them in times like that, so this speaks volumes on his feelings for Lois -- yeah, he likes her, is definitely attracted to her, but he doesn't love her. If he loved her, he would have remembered her.

Really enjoyed Lex in this episode -- he was a believable and scary villain, but also completely understandable when he explained his motives at the end. Fear of the mostly unknown is what is driving Lex here (and what he does know isn't good), and that's a very common fear.

Victor and AC were pretty adorable and Bart was totally cute (I still haven't seen either Bart or Victor's introductory episodes! I must work on this.).

I really loved Clark in this episode -- we get confirmation that he's still hunting the phantoms (I really wish that that storyline had more focus... or any storyline primarily focused on Clark.), we get the contrast of his morality against Oliver's, and we got the adorable scene in the Talon apartment with Clark, Lois, and Chloe. Could Clark have been any more flustered there, thinking of Lois naked (Hah! Remembering Lois naked!)? He reminded me of early crush days with Alicia (the only other woman that I've actually believed that Clark was attracted to). So cute.

What can I say about Supernatural? Only that I totally love and adore it. I could go all spoiler on y'all, but it boils down to love and adoration.

Oh, what the hell.

I loved the parallel that the episode built between the sisters and our brothers. Especially in light of news about Sammy maybe turning evil. I found the scene at the end, with the jump rope, to be both intensely sweet and also more than a little creepy. I agree with the people who said the reason they made an explicit 'brothers!' connection this episode was because they were going to have the face-touching later and wanted their disclaimer in there.

Which I loved -- I loved the touching in this episode. I loved that Sam and Dean spending a month looking for Ava! I loved that Sam leapt to the same conclusion I did and assumes that she's been spirited away and that he's worried about her, but that after looking for a month and finding nothing, he still wants to try to help other people who need their help. I loved the creepy dolls -- and I found myself thinking of Sarah in this episode, because I was wondering if that Maggie-looking doll had been made with the real hair of its original owner.

I love how much Dean loves Sam and how much Sam trusts Dean. I love how many of the side characters were female in this episode and that they showed a sister-bond that was as strong and maybe even as fucked up as the Winchester bond. I loved seeing Maggie because it really seemed to me that that's the danger that Dean faced In my Time of Dying, of becoming that kind of obsessive spirit, who is dangerous because she loves.

I loved the setting this week -- that was a very creepy old hotel. I'm just... I really love this show, man.

I don't watch SV at all, but I'm kinda amused that they've brought Ollie into the series. It's so weird to see him clean-shaven instead of with the goatee! But Ollie neglecting Lois -- I don't know if you read comics at all, but he's pretty much a jerk when it comes to the ladies. I mean, he loves them and they love him, but constant and faithful he is not.

Supernatural I havent watched yet...going to tonight or tomorrow.

But smallville? EPICALY AWESOME!!!

And to be honest...never was much of a Green Arrow fan. I can see why they put him in the show this season. To help Clark become the hero we know he can be. But he's a bit too smug, and I go with Clark's views that GA's methods, while admirable, are questionable.

And picking up and leaving Lois? If I had Lois in my life you'd need the jaws of life to get me to leave her.

The hero strut as the 33.1 base got blowed up? That made it for me. Way cool.

Ha! Well, at least he's in character, then. Sounds like Lois will be better off with Clark (I'm familiar with several comics lines because of my dad, but don't actually read them myself).

Exactly! Clark has a stronger moral base to stand on, he just needs to work on some of the other parts of being a hero.
